If you read the samsung and spoof it into LiteOn iX

Erase

Flash

Powere cycle / half open tray

Dummy from iX

You'll have:

A LiteOn hacked, and your dummy.bin smile.gif

Dump fw from Sammy and extract your unique dvd key, inquiry, identify and serial. If your serial is blank you can read all codes from stickers on original drive.

Ok:

Unlock the drive (dont use sammy unlock, instead use VCC Trick or Half Open Tray and Intro.

Read the Samsung f/w

Open iX 1.6 for LiteOns

Spoof source to target.

Remove Samsung

Hook Up LiteOn

MTKFlash32 / LiteOn Erase

If good flash chip properties,

Write.

Power Cycle LiteOn

Set half open tray on LiteOn

DVDKey32 / Dummy from iX

This will give you your dummy.bin.

As above, if JF warns drive specific info is missing, you can rebuild from the labels on the drive.

Does it change the fact that the iXtreme present on my sammy is 1.41? Can I still proceed with the above steps?

Sammy never had 1.41, 1.4 however:

VCC Trick / Activate.ISO are your only unlock methods.

Providing you have a VIA/Nforce controller, yes.

an ICH user cant unlock it with DosFlash alone.

Either way the above procedure it's doable then? Why you said "dont use sammy unlock"?
Thanks again!

Because its designed for stock MS28's only.

Again, for users that dont have VIA/Nforce chipsets.

From what I've seen that is not an option, since I don't have dummy.bin to change the dvdkey to.
Am I correct? If not, can anyone confirm MrBucket101 approach?

Cheers,

if you have the key written down, why not just type that into jungleflasher and spoof it to source instead of worrying about dumping the sammy again

i could be wrong, it definitely wouldn't be the first time thats for sure

but since you don't have the dummy.bin from the liteon, why can't you just use a probe and get the needed files from it that way.

I'm not really seeing how the samsung fits into the big picture here. The only use I see for it is to get the original key from, but you already have that written down and saved.

So where exactly in JF would you do that?

Because he's probably minced the UART of the drive (going on his previous thread)

I really dont see why you had to throw another method (that doesnt copy full serial ranges) into the mix either.

Manual spoof of the key into iX will not copy his serial ranges over.

How I listed is the correct method to do what he is trying to do.

UPDATE! For what is worth I was able to dump the firmware again, using a homemade spear thanks a lot for your help!

I am now up and running my liteon ixtreme 1.6 thanks to you guys!

Honestly I followed that approach because I didn't wanna mess with my sammy, since it was already working.
Probably tomorrow I'll update it too.

Thanks again, and keep gaming!

Cheers!
