Liteon 83850c And Dosflash
« on: August 04, 2009, 02:01:00 PM »

Can anyone advise if the older liteon flashing DOS method (l-o-eras and Dosflash) can be used in the same way to flash an 83850c ?

I would have asked this in the 1.6 firmware release thread, but its already 3 pages deep in conspiracy theories !

Actually, the 83850c can be erased and written to just like the original Liteon. I have been using one as a replacement drive for about a little over a week. So yeah you can erase and flash it with whatever.

Of course this is not the same as dumping an 83850c, getting the key from foundmy, then flashing it to work as an 83850c in a console that came with an 83850c.

At this moment you can prepare iXtreme-firmware for your drive with newest JungleFlasher and flash it with it, or with old DosFlash. Hardware is the same. A0A1=A0A2 (IMHO no differences). All flashing steps the same.

But at this moment you can't get key for free.

You guys know he was asking how to erase his drive. Common sense would indicate that he has his drive dumped allready, esp if he knows about the previous methods. But as I don't have a drive, I don't know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Yes, I was well aware I couldnt read the drive etc, its just that I don't use Jungleflasher for ereasing or flashing Liteons due to having to have the Via drivers installed on my machine. It just concerned me that there was no update of l-o-eras, dosflash, or firmtool, so I was worried that the dos side of things might  have been left out.

Seems conclusive from here and IRC that the same dos methods apply, though Ive yet to get hold of one to try them.
