LiteOn 83850c Hack

QUOTE(LATTS @ Aug 3 2009, 02:03 PM) *

if foundmy took paypal i'd be sending my bin in right now since i have a ms25 i could spoof with the key. i dont think $42 is un-reasonable, maybe people need to get better jobs?

haha.

Finally someone with a belt speaks up.

You dont need all the hardware you did for the original liteon, so those of you who have purchased a new 360 and have the new liteon, whatever money you were going to spend towards a rs232 or xtractor ...you can now put it towards the key data.

Either way its a wash.

But honestly, you people are ridiculously cheap. People get so used to the concept of free, that when someone, who probably put a *incredible* amount of work into a project such as this, wants to charge for it....you cry about it.

Remember people. This is not checkers. If you want 'free' then you can always do it yourself. Otherwise, you will always be at the mercy of the person who proposes the best solution. At this time and place, foundmy has offered the best solution. It might change (who knows, he might distribute licenses wholesale for very cheap).

Speaking of which, has everyone ignored that fact? Not a single person has mentioned the wholesale bit, yet I see lots of you crying about how your going to have to pay x amount of $ per key. So...buy a whole sale license. See what it costs. Personally i dont care....if someone wants their drive modded, then they can pay the licensing fee along with the modding service.

Likely those of you who are crying about price are the same assholes charging 75-100 dollars to softmod a dvd drive. I've never charged more than 50 bucks in my life, and most of the time its closer to 20. But no, now your profit is being eaten! Oh no! Hypocritical.

I would put every penny I own that if THX wanted to charge for ixtreme, atleast 90% of you would be crying the same sob story. It has nothing to do with ethics, or morality...no. Its the bottom line. You are paying for something that was free, and now its not. Well, thats how most businesses launch a product now anyways.
Who here runs AVG antivirus? Or any one of a million products given for free, and then distributed for a cost once the user base is high. Thats life and business now and days.

How does the decryption of this key differ from any previous decryption done with previous firmware (legal wise)?
Can anyone elaborate?

If it is so illegal, how long will it be untill MS pulls foundmy.com, I mean if the only way is illegaly, it wont be long will it.

Edit:/ To clarify, im not complaining. Most people posting probly have pirated games, esp if your complaning its not free. If you can pay for hardware whats the difference paying for this.

And isn't iXtreme breaking the DMCA. Then again, AnyDVD does that too by circumventing copy protection, anyone know how that ones legal.

I can't believe how ungrateful everyone is on here! Jesus christ!

Luckily I've not had one of these new drives yet but if I did I'd just tell the customer it'll cost them. I only charge a tenner (£10) for any flash anyway, so I'd just add foundmy's fee on top. At least there is a solution!

Man, I think its a disgrace how people are talking to Iriez given the work that he and his team have put into everything so far. I'd like to thank them again for all the work they've done. I dont expect anything for free, I'm just grateful for what we do get.

To all the moaners so far; How many 360's have you lot flashed? How much money have you all made from those flashes? How much have you donated to the iXtreme/JF team? Not a lot I bet. And now your all bitching. Well done. If I were Iriez and the team I'd be so pissed off at the lack of gratitude I'd tell you all to hack it yourselves and make your own firmware.

Who knows? Some other solution may come forward (doubtful). This one may get cheaper (fairly likely). Until then, be grateful, not ingrate.

i have a feeling that site wont be up for long anyway..i in no way condone web shop hacking at all but i mean the main page worries me quite a lot lol..

1. the guy has left a <br> on the front page
2. the 1 2 3 4 icons at the bottom dont line up.
3. the site has been made with oscommerce 2.2 a shop template that is very very vulnerable.

even if i was willing to pay the $42 (which i am not lol) there is no way on earth i would trust my credit card / paypal details with a such a cheaply made and easily hackable site as that

if you dont believe me just type in osCommerce 2.2 hacking into google and you'll get a 100 and 1 google vids / a 100 and 1 hacking sites / a 100 and 1 oscommerce horror stories..

to say this guy has invested a great deal into this project and then used a vulnerable free shop template is laughable lol

and the reason i object to everything is the price for what you get. if it was half that price and the money went direct to iriez i'd be quite happy to do it with every drive. but to give $42 for every drive new drive you do to someone you know nothing about (and has very limited web design skills lol) when someone with the greatness as iriez gets nothing and has never asked for anything is nothing short of scandelous..monopolies are never a good idea..

It's events like this that draw a fine line between petty pirates and modding enthusiasts. Makes me think back to the PS2 days. Either way, I don't much like Foundmy and their practices but they were the first to offer it. Granted I wouldn't pay THEM the $42, I would gladly pay someone more reputable who could do the same thing as Foundmy for the same service.

What do you get for $42? A key. What does this key do? Oh, hey. You don't have to pay for games anymore which range up to $60 on average. OMFG! You have to pay $42 dollars to play any game you like without having to buy it?! What a fucking travesty! Oh, I'm terribly sorry. I mean back up the games you already own.  rolleyes.gif

Some of you folk need to go back to school and learn some simple math. Or is this the math they're teaching in schools these days?

Silly, petty pirates.

Well, sure the price could be high for some people but for now it is the only way. Yet, I just don't see this service lasting. I mean I guarantee that MS will pursue this and take down the business. They are reverse engineering something that is copyrighted illegal and it only adds to illegality since they are making a profit out of it therefore, the giant hands of MS are bound to take this to court. Just look at Apple fighting Psystar Computers. Psystar Computers are selling what is know as OpenMacs which run Macintosh on unlicensed computer hardware. The OSX86project which designed the methods of installing Mac on a PC wasn't affected until Psystar started to create a profit from it and thus began the legal battle which is documented all over the internet.  Anyways, I know Apple and Microsoft are two different companies but they are both corporations which will not stand for someone making a profit of reverse engineering their products. So expect this site to drift into a legal dispute with the people at Redmond.

On to another point, the paradox I see with this is that iXtreme firmware itself is illegal since it does contain MS code which has been altered. Basically it's illegal to modify even your firmware. Because when you buy your xbox 360 console you buy the rights to use the software which operates the console. You don't own the software. The people who own it are MS and their partners who developed the 360. It is clearly illegal to reverse-engineer any of the hardware or software, modify it, and then use it for your own purpose. Just read the DMCA it's all there. so I would say that THX is already in the hole with just making iXtreme Firmware.

and what about those who have donated plenty to the scene with no pay for it?? like myself. would it be ok in all your eyes for abgx360 to charge per fixed iso u do? this is setting a very bad trend... no1 wants foundmy.com having a list of cc numbers user info and their drive serials... m$ will surely jump all over this site after the hackers and script kiddies do....

and i must ask are the guys who released the firmdecrypt.exe for the hitachi drives in jail? i really dont see how any1 is sticking to the legal excuse here really.... if some1 found this out then another person IS able to do the same. dont expect this to be a lengthy period of paying for this. even the foundmy.com guy thinks itll be free soon enuff. and i wont post logs but yes he DID say this....

I would pay- but NOT for every single Key
I would pay- but no 42 Bucks für 5 seconds work (after your long and difficult work)
I would pay -but not to foundmy.com..  look http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Foundmy

So Iriez.. what do we have to pay to get the deal and NOT foundmy.com?

I think most of us would pay 20 or 30 $ to break this solution free, for everybody.

I would!!

But near zero of us will pay to foundmy!!!!

Well the $42 does screw up the people that do it for free. I never made a profit flashing - takes like 40 seconds to do - I can be done before finishing a cigarette

bah - I guess anyone thats got a new box - I'll tell them "look elsewhere" as I dont want to be involved in a money transaction

Strange about foundmy. I know they are sponosors of tehskeen dot com. I ordered a NDS flash cart, had it within 3 days. They did forget to add the micro SD reader, I emailed them and they shipped it, it showed up a few days later. That's my 2 cents - not going to use the liteon service.

Is that not the truth.

Everyone wants something for nothing, if...

Foundmy were charging $15 you'd all still whine and bitch that it wasnt free.

Someones done the work, someones probably outlayed alot of money for this (R&D? Paying people off? IDK)

Truth is, unless you can perform the hack yourself, you dont have a pot to piss in bar foundmy.

**N.B. I concur that 42$ for one key appears harsh, but, for what you can acheive wink.gif It in comparison, isnt so bad.

Also, the modders can "choose to buy in bulk" I have no idea of price reductions, but, it could be (say) 50% off, if no-one else is paying, you have the monopoly.

Hetster you seem to be one of those douche bags that does not think or have a clue before he types.  You are spouting off some very harsh comments/plans towards foundmy.  You should be careful.  If something were to happen at this point your IP should be the first to go to the authorities.
So...because you have no fuking clue.  (and all others who think foundmy is just some site that popped up)
He has been in business in Canada for a very long time.  FBI has shit to do with Canada. In fact some of you were still in diapers when he started selling chips in the early PS2 days.  He is not just some random dick who came up with a "MASTER PLAN"
Albeit Terry has had issues in getting peoples gear out in a timely fashion over the years he is certainly not a scammer.

Now....WTF...$42 dollars you dumbass's.  Are you kidding.  Back in the day we were charging $100-$150 to mod a PS2.  Those of us that were big modders then could not keep up with the numbers of machines that needed to be done.  You guys are complaining about $42.

Or is it simply that the scene has been so slow and you all have nothing better to do then pad your posts with stupid shit about $42 being tooo much.......LMAO.  Stick with your NDS then. It costs you $12 to go to Mcdonalds these days.

No, we 'cry' because we had high hopes for Team THX to deliver like they always do, for the community. And when people want to show their appreciation, that's what the Donation button is for in JF.

But now, after promising that the solution will be provided when the market is 'saturated' and that already one failsafe method existed, but you guys were still working out the kinks .. *poof* enter Foundmy.com.. which just so happens to have a way to decrypt the key.. okay.. kudos for that, great stuff.

Foundmy however charges a lot (you said it yourself ("steep"), so people here were very exited when you announced that by the end of the week THX would push it's iXtreme release forward .. * all hail king Iriez *, only to be debunked later to announce it's just the iXtreme, not the key-decrypting itself. Okay, what happened to the failsafe method then ? Foundmy ? Was that it ? Was it some kind of deal ? Foundmy takes the risk of getting thrown into jail (or like you prefer PRISON) and provide the key-decrypting service and THX supplies the new firmware ?  That's the only reason I can think of (THX not willing to take the risk (and I *can* understand that) and Foundmy is willing to take that risk.

And yes, now we 'cry', we still want to decide how much we want to donate to the team. Be it 5usd or 100eur, whatever, but that's the idea of a donation. Selling a key decryption for over 40usd a key (yeah yeah, wholesale, well, when you need to 'email for wholesale prices' AND the risk of getting a 'Recipient not known' after mailing 5 keys out of your 100-key wholesale subscription) taken into account, no way man.  Every prick with a bit of common sense can tell you that foundmy.com will be taken down before the end of the month.

Keep your swearing to yourself. I just told you my price a few posts back. If this is business, fine. But have to heart to tell you that you sold your failsafe method to Foundmy for them to exploit it. If I'm falsy accusing you, then release the failsafe method like you promised in the first place (when the market is saturated), but stop hiding behind the fact that is so illegal, because you knew this when announcing your failsafe method in the first place. Announcing that, and then go bashing people for being cheapskates and ungrateful after the foundmy disillusion and you acting all surprised, THAT'S HYPOCRITICAL.

You can ban me now..

they can log my ip all they like lol..i have visited the site once (which was enough to put me off instantly lol) i have not signed up for the site have not given any details and will never do so..if something was to happen to that site i'm pretty sure the authorities would point the finger at the 100+ users who have complained and had an axe to grind with the site lol..

i do think before i type and i have made some valid points that i hope Terry Waskowich takes very seriously.
i also know the site didnt just pop up..3 pages of complaints show its been doing bad business for a few years now lol..
also 1 of the main gripes on the complaints list was about shipping addresses not matching credit card addresses. this is a well known problem..especialy with oscommerce and paypal but after 3 years he is still having the same problems as his front page warns you about addresses not matching..

i challenge you to put all this aside and visit foundmy.com as though you where a first time user.. are you seriously telling me you would trust a site that looks like that with your credit card :-s

i actualy know what i am taking about but am not going to get into a bitching contest. if anyone wants to pay $42 to that site then feel free..i wouldnt give them 1 cent as it would mean me signing up to them..
