First of all guys apologies if this is considered a newbie question.

I have the first generation samsung xbox drive and flashed it way back when the first method was out.
Problem is I've lost my original key file when my hard drive failed.

If I want to update my firmware I will need the original binary key file  Is there anyway that I can extract this key from my already fllashed firmware to rebuild an updated firmware and re-flash the xbox?

yes, just use read in jungle flasher. You should of searched its been asked 100 times since 1.6 came out.

Cheers mate, downloaded, i've tried to update, i've downloaded the latest ixtreme, placed it in the firmware dir in jungle flasher,
I've got it to dump my current flahsed firmware, but just can't get it to update. Tells me I need to restore the original file - problem is I dont have this - and it gives me a path name and an error "can't open file c:\.....\orig47.bin, now I realise if I had the original firmware I would just need to place it in here to restore.

Sounds like a Hitachi 47...

Yeah it's the 0047 guys, read the jungle flasher guide through front to back, just gonna check that link to the trouble shooting section now thanks.
