@Irez  I know this is completley off topic, but as you seem to be monitoring this thread, I will ask here.  Is there any news on progress for the 1.6 firmware for the Hitachi drive?  Or, will we likely see that when the firmware for this new LiteOn is released.  Not asking for a release date, just wondering if it is being worked on.  Thanks.

Just to chime in - I recently ordered a 512mb Arcade from Amazon, and it had the OLD Lite-on in it.  Modded it fine.

Thanks to all who made this possible.

I just picked up 10 Arcades from my local Wal-Mart and they all have the 512mb on board MU and the older Liteon drive.

They said once the market was saturated they would. Saturated - To soak, fill, or load to capacity.

So untill the drive has a high retail presence its going to be kept under wraps.
It IS for our benifit. The longer its kept secret for the more drives that are going to be made, the more flashable ones on the market. If they release it too soon, they will stop producing the drives and release yet anoter version with it patched. Then others will ahve to wait, yet again.

We had to wait for the first lite-on. It's exactly the same. Be patient.

i am sure they are waiting to decrypt, analyze, and find other holes.  I am glad that their team is holding tight.  Teams break-up when there is no trust. For those with the new drives, i am sure your originals will work just fine till it comes out.

To all who complain about getting the new 83850C drive ... one should always look for the manufacture date printed on the outside of the package ... and buy in another shop if there is no box in stock that matches your criteria!

If you are purchasing now, look for a manufacture date no later than May 1st to be on the safe side, which translates to a Lot No of 0922X or lower.

you could allways go to game station and buy pre owned one that would pretty much get you old drive
or ask for the lot number of the xbox http://www.360drives.com/list then wack in there that should tell you when it was made  ect
