LiteOn 83850c Solution

Well, I have spent over 6 hours today searching for an older model for a customer.  Finally found one on the back of a bottom shelf at a Target.

The previous 5 hours and 45 mins have been spent at other Targets, Wal-Marts, and Best Buys in the South Florida Area - Not a single system NOT Manufactured in June 09, except the one I finally found.

I even went ahead and called my district manager friend at Gamestop, and he called me back about 3 hours later after he called his managers and they did not have any Pre June 09s in stock.

So, needless to say, the South East Florida Region has become saturated with the new models.

Just input, so THX can add South Florida to their Database of saturation.

I usually buy about 20 new 360's every week. Last week every place a visited has arcades from 4-09 and the newest Pro's was 11-08 to 1-09. This week everything is June 09 or newer.

I have many customers that works management at my local Wal-Mart and Gamestop and was told that any pre June 09 consoles that was laying in their stores warehouses was recalled and replaced with post June consoles.

Not sure how much to believe that but just passing on what was told to me.

just bought an arcade at eb games here in ottawa, canada, has the LiteOn 83850c in it, i think its pretty safe to say that they are in the wild and coming shipped with new systems, as a side note , bestbuy and futureshop both had no arcade editions in stock, so there maybe some truth to the recall

Nobody shops at KMart, I've bought 3 in the past week from 3 diff Wal Marts, all made pre-April 2009.

Bought one Elite that was from August 2008.

Don't know how they stay in business, check em out if you need one though.

http://foundmy.com/o...products_id=340  <--- This is how you extract the Key from the new LiteOn Drive.  If they can do it so can we.  I think it will only be a matter of days now.  O yeah i sent my console in last week to texas and just got it back, it had a liteon but with the older firmware.  I think i just got lucky.  Just sent another one in 3 days ago on friday and am waiting, ill probably get it today or tomorrow at the latest.  For some reason they have been sending me 2nd day Air shipping boxes smile.gif  no complaints from me though.

Just for reference I've had one back from the Germany repair centre in the last week with
HW: A0A2 / FW: 74850C / Manu Date: March 2009.

Also it has some silver tape on the front of the drive holding it to the case which the one I sent for repair didn't have (don't know if this is for security or to stop rattling? not attempted to remove it yet!)

"WE?"   I think you mean "They" as in Team HyperX...

And THX Could extract it - as well as decrypt it, and most likely have the proper way to re-insert it, THEY are just waiting a little while longer to release it.

Now, the funny thing is, they are charging you $42 to more or less Decrypt the file you send them.  Nothing about inserting the new key or new firmware back into the drive.  Is it going to be done the same way?  We do not know, but we do know that there is an extra step going to be performed - that was given to us earlier.

I would much rather donate the $42 to Team HyperX and wait until they have a fix with NOT sending my drive info off to someone I have no Idea where they came from.

It's really hilarious if you think about it... Some of us have customers now or selling Pre-Mods with the new drive in it, and are a little stuck right now, however some people are SOOOO impatient they have to spend $42 to send their files to these guys.  Look, Play your originals, it is not going to kill you or hurt the disks in any way for a week or so, and when it comes out, do your thing... very simple.

I suppose that they actually don't know how to insert them but perhaps you can insert the key they give you in other dvd for replacement.

ix is going to be released really soon but we will still have to pay 42 fucking dollars just to get the fucking key.
iriez even said it himself

"""If we found a way to decrypt the key data this moment, you would still never see it released to public. Its simply very illegal.
foundmy has come up with a solution to what was the main thing holding the release of ixtreme back. The firmware has already been in the works and we've had solutions to read/write firmware. However that is not the same as read/write key data!
So I hate to break it to everyone, but its looking like this will be the only solution."""

Is it possible that team HyperX already has this solution down and ready to go but cannot release it to the pubic for fear of legal implications. However if that method was to say "somehow get leaked" on some torrent site or whatever without the team hyperX tag being branded to it, that would be okay. Remember, this site only stays open because all topics and discussions are above board, piracy etc isn't tolerated. If you read between the lines of Iriez's comment thats what i get. Of course I could be way off the mark here, but its just something to think about
