I just had my first on in Detroit, Mi. It was bought form Gamestop and it's the XBOX360 Pro 60 gig.
I had to send the guy away. I feel bad for him and his luck.

Haven't checked Elites. Only Arcades and Pro's.

Nobody buys Elites around me. My local stores still has Elites manufactured from the end of 2007 on the store shelves.

I wish I could find newer ones around here.

Maybe it's just me but isn't Microsoft just encouraging piracy rather than fighting it? I mean every new 360 gets more complex to hack. This means more users will end up sending their systems to people that know what they're doing. This in return provides jobs for hackers and actually GREATLY increases the illegal 360 market. Hackers with their new found money actually end up just buying 360s and selling them pre-hacked with the latest motherboard model, which means no RROD. This also means that the people that got their 360s hacked will recommend it to their friends, and before you know it everyone on your block has one. Epically when it only cost you $25. It makes me wonder what is Microsoft really doing?

so by making their console more difficuilt to hack Microsoft will be reducing piracy? what kind of logic is that? Just have a look at ps3 man 0% piracy

The difference is that the 360 always has a loop hole. Which means it isn't something they're going to fix with new DVD drivers. It's basically to the point where the hacker is always one step head. For example the PSP is always being hacked, even with the latest build.

I'm in Canada, west coast, and I found a Jasper at EB Games.  I was so pumped until I found out about this drive problem... Lot number is 0922 so console is realllly new.  But just so people know that there are Jaspers in Canada.

I can say that in the nj/ny area its almost full of this new version because i have went to 4 different stores looking for an older model of the lite-on. I bought 1 pro, 1 arcade, and 2 elites. All were this new version.
