Hitachi 47d Spoofed To Lite-on Dg-16d2s
« on: July 09, 2009, 06:05:00 AM »

Hi, Before it was possible to flash the lite on drive my friend wanted his xbox modded so i got the key from the liteon and spoofed a spare hitachi 47d drive i had lying around as a liteon dg16d2s.  Thing is he now wants it upgraded to 1.51 fw for wave 3. I 've done a search but am unsure how to get the key back out of the hitachi (he lost the cd i put his original dump on)

Using jungleflasher 1.6 the drive goes into mode b and is then recognised as a lite on in jungleflasher.

Do i need to restore to hitachi original fw 1st and if so will the affect the key, but as its not recognised as a hitachi how can i do this, any help aprecciated on this.
Thanks

I personally only worked with samsungs and lite-on drives, but when reading about the hitachis I don't really like them much (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif). But shouldn't you be able to fetch the firmware (with key) from the hitachi before you do anything else? Looking in jungleflasher it atleast looks possible. I did do something similiar with a samsung drive just recently (taking the key from it and transfering it onto the original lite-on) and it worked like a charm.

The hitachi is already done with ixtreme 1.4 and spofed to look like a liteon, what needs to be done now is update it to 1.51 but with hitachi drive i think it needs to be converted back to hitachi std fw before it can be reflashed to ixtreme1.51 and re spoofed. I am just worried of losing the key trying to unspoof it etc.

When spoofing a Hitachi you should follow the recommendations of the Official Guide.

Spoofing a Hitachi Drive to report as a Different Drive Revision / Version.

If you wish to flash a Hitachi Drive using JungleFlasher and change the Drive String ID, you should follow the procedure of:

• Restore to Stock if necessary (Pg 56)
• Flash iXtreme to the Drive (Pg 53)
• Flash Key Sector (Pg 60)
• Flash Spoof Data (Pg 63)

Flash iXtreme to the drive first before flashing key / spoof data!!

Even though the drive is reported as a LiteOn in the properties it should still restore, as long as it does... then you're good. Just follow the rest and it should be fine.

Midiandy, please dont chime in if you don't know what you're talking about, not flaming you, but false info can cause people problems and I'm sure you don't want that, right?
That is a WORD FOR WORD exerpt from the user guide and you're stating ...It's incorrect???
Please take the time to COMPLETELY read the JF User Guide before you reply to Q's.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Thanks Traviss,

So far i have now managed to dump the drive and have the key. I then went ahead and restored the firmware all went well again, so i then flashed the ixtreme 1.51 to the drive and again the key is correct and the drive now id's as a hitachi 78.

I tried the drive like this in the xbox and have bottom right red led, but i expect this is because i have not spoofed the drive back to a  liteon DG16DS2. Only prob now is that i don't have the original liteon drive for the barcode or the inquiry.bin file i got from when i originally read the drive, so what are my options now. Is it game over (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
