Lite-on Dg-16d2s
« on: July 05, 2009, 11:20:00 AM »

Ok, The key has been read from the drive, but after  this now the drive isn't responding to anything.

process in booting:

Everything off
Hooked SATA into drive
Drive into CK3 ( switch off )
Boot windows
Turn CK3 ON

No response from drive, not detecting in windows, tray not ejecting from CK3 button

Hopefully this drive isn't bricked, but i do have Orig FW so it could be fixed.

One more note, Laser is not doing anything at all, last  Lite-on i did, it would light up during boot

I have the same drive.
Does the DG-16D2S Require a Connectivity Kit? Or does SATA read the keys without one?

Which one should I purchase if it requires one?

Nope, No Lite-on Erase, I attempted it , but the status came up the same as it would if the drive wasn't there

The drive is from an old and dusty elite, already refurbed by M$ twice. Dunno, but to just get a new DVD drive....

*Edit*
Yes the Lite-on requires a Connect Kit, with some sort of probe to read off of the r707, do some searching and read up

sometimes if you don't cycle the power on the drive correctly it will freeze during the erasing process. To fix this you would just boot into dos with iprep and erase/write with iprep. I think the command is flit or something like that.

Gotcha, gunna check the iprep with dos then.

Yea its real weird, it's like the drive isn't getting power at all now.

Like before stated, the original files are intact and off the drive, just really strange it would get no power after a read and no flash.

Power cable is in the right way, with the male connecting matching slits with the female connector.

*edit*
One more note - E64 when put back in the box, no response for eject button, no laser lighting up/moving

Get dosflash, dont bother with iprep, its just batch files.

Place your cfw and dosflash on the root of your usbDOS disk.

Remove all other devices apart from dvd drive. (hdd,DVD etc)

Type dosflash, your device should show up.
Select the number.
Type Liton E (it will then erase).
Powercycle
Type dosflash, select device again 'y' to intro. Powercycle untill 0x72
'w' to write.
cfw.bin

Should work.
Post results.

Alright, after about 2 weeks of messing with it in DOS, in Windows, Without connect kit

No response from drive.

Its fried.
Drive isn't detected in anything, not even BIOS.

Next question, would I have to get another Lite-ON for replacement, a BenQ or anything should work correct as long as I have the key for the Lite-ON?

You can spoof it to any drive (I prefer samsung myself). You just have to transfer over the key and drive information so the drive also looks like a lite-on to the xbox.

What happens if you send an MTK Intro to the port with the drive connected?

Drive wont be 'fried' unless you put power plug in wrong.
I had the EXACT same problem 0x80 status returned all the time, or 0x72 followed by 0x80. Even 0xFF.

It was due to my sata controller. (I was using dosflash too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )

I would reccomend a VIA VT6421A chipset. As soon as I did the EXACT SAME commands it worked fine. Normally I wouldnt suck up to a product. But it ROCKS.

In dos you need to send
L-O-ERAS.exe BF00 [return 0x80]
L-O-ERAS.exe BF00 [return 0x72]
Powercycle
dosflash,1,w,cfw.bin,[enter]

Shoudl be that of very similar.
Post your results.
I paid £6 and got delivered next day about 12 hours off ebay.

But, aslong as you have dummy.bin/key.bin/inquiry.bin/identify.bin you can spoof to any drive you like. I've got a BenQ that I use for exactly that.

sounds like attempted  lite-one Erase might of been successful, to me your drive showing all the symptoms of erased drive, have you done what oggy told you to do send intro/device id in jungleflasher then power cycle in 1 sec .
