Liteon Freezing Computer When Plugged In
« on: June 25, 2009, 11:50:00 AM »

hey all, i have the via 6421a sata controller card and am trying to flash my liteon using the usb xtractor.  I have installed all the drivers including the port io 32.  whenever i plug in the sata cord from the liteon to the computer, it would always freeze up after a few seconds.  i have spent hours trying to get this to work, to no success.

i tried to boot the drive connected to the computer, however, xp would freeze on the loading icon too.  And connecting it when xp is done booted freezes.

i didn't even get to extract the keys yet due to the freezing.  Help!!!

Did you try what Ranger said?!?

Have a look at the JF instructions, they explain how to uninstall the VIA drivers

Use this tutorial. Especially important is the "No freezing" part, of course (that's steps 6.1-3). You have to disable your old driver, rename it, then copy the new driver in, and finally rename the new one to the old name. Just follow the guide.

If you have any more problems with freezing, try powering up the drive with a second PC, while using the first PC for the SATA connection. Of course, you'd need to borrow a desktop PC from someone, but it guarantees you won't have to worry about any freezing issues.

the usb extractor never really worked for me. i'd try a COM port if you have one.

Also, just to be sure, you're reading with the dvdkey 32 tab right?

whew!!!  i was finally able to get it working.  i was having so much trouble that i just decided to start with a clean copy of xp 32 bit, which solved all my problems.  the USB Xtractor works qreat too.

-quick note, jungle flasher 1.62 did NOT work with the liteon 1.6 repack, it would always close itself.  used 1.60 and everything went smoothly!
