Flashing Liteon
« on: June 10, 2009, 08:35:00 AM »

I've obtained the key.bin, dummy.bin, etc for my Liteon using a homemade TTL & RS232 convertor.  I'm now ready to use jungleflash to flash ixterme 1.6 to the drive.  My question is do I keep  the drive tray half open for flashing, or tray close before flashing.

JungleFlash says "quick power drive off then on" after erase, can I use the Xbox 360 power button for performing the quick power off then on action?  (My drive is getting power from Xbox360)  Any assistance is higly appreciated.  TIA!

it doesnt really matter.. the half tray method is only for reading(unlocking 4 reading)...        do a couple of key extractions... compare the resultes ....if all good erase chip ...if it doesnt go into status 0x73 the first time(forgot to say.....wait for the erase command to finish check the JF log... when it says sending intro do a power cycle) if you do not succed ++>... do a power cycle then hit intro... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)  from there you know what to do

You can not use power button on 360 to do the quick off/on procedure. Sorry...get a kit or make your own toggle switch or if you are quick enough....jack the dvd power cable out and plug back in. Most likely if you do the last....you're headed for a session with a bootable dos disc or usb drive because of possiblity of semi-brick. Hmmmm. Loads of fun. How much time do you like to spend reading tutorials is the question that needs to be asked

Thanks for the reply, guys.  I've successfully flashed my Liteon with ixtreme 1.6.  The process was very smooth.

BTW, I did the DVD power cycle using the Xbox 360.  I emulated the DVD power cycle by by removing the Xbox power plug from the wall output.  When the power LED goes off, I plug it back in.  Then, I quickly switch on the Xbox with the Xbox power button.  It works like a charm.

I made the homemade TTL & RS232 adapter by following instructions provided by yaywoop in this forum.  The adapter only needs 1 transistor and 2 resistors and it's very simple to make.  The best thing is it's free and I don't even need to solder anything onto the DVD mobo.
