Using Two Drives On Xbox360

Yes you could do that. You would still need to open the xbox and void the warranty tho.

Basicly buy another drive can be any drive.
Read firmware off orignal.
Spoof and flashed firmware with original key into the other drive.

Then its just a matter of swoping the wires, Be carefull with the power few people manage to stick it in upside down and boom the dvd drive dies. Or you could make it a bit more user friendly and put a switch on the back but that will require soldering skills.

First off thanks to everyone who has responded thus far.

As far as the power issue not quite sure what you are talking about but I am sure I wouldn't put it in upside down (as I have modded about 80 orig xboxes).

On to the account info...I don't know that that necessarily means much to me...I mean how could they track the games I play...i know it saves acheivements and such but how would it matter if it was a backup or not.  Are you saying it leaves a trace that I played on a backup?  So wouldn't a separate account that doesn't go online take care of that.

And third are the chances of getting detected on live minimal?  Cause everyone I have seemed to talk to is like..."Oh yeah just mod the firmware" like it isn't a big deal but you could get your console banned for life if I am not mistaken.

Thanks for answering all my Q's thus far and I am excited to try this little exercise in hacking and modding!

I will post my results and how I work it all out because I am sure I am not the first modder who has thought about doing something like this!

Thanks,

Mindstrm

rather than mess about constantly with 2 drives why not just buy one xbox and take your chances with live, if you get banned, buy an arcade, keep that for playing legit games on live and keep the banned box for offline single player games ( back ups )

Using a separate non live account for backups is exactly what i meant. What i meant by "what you play and when you play it" is, "BACKUPS" can be acquired before release date and if played on live M$ can detect this. Also non properly stealth "BACKUPS" used with older firmwares can also be detected by M$. So using two accounts is your best bet if you don't what to purchase a second 360. For added security you can make your live account on your HDD and your non live account on a memory card. Then just unplug the memory card when going on live. Its just a theory i have that M$ can detect everything on the HDD regardless of of what account you log into.

Foolkiller,

Thanks for the response I was just trying to clarify what you had said and I really like the idea of storing the second account for "Backups" on the memory card so thanks for the tip.

I have one final question before I go voiding my warranty and possibly getting banned...do I have to use the exact same drive?  Someone mentioned (maybe you) that I could use another drive but I thought that the unique key for the drive is unique to the type of drive (i.e. benq, liteon, etc) because I don't wanna go get a drive and have it be all anticlimactic when I cannot use it in my xbox cause it is the wrong type of drive!

Again thanks to everyone who is helping me on this quest!

Regards,

Also two other questions...I have checked around and it seems that Nforce chip sets have no problem flashing and I have a Asus M32nSli-Deluxe mobo with an Nforce 590sli chip set and I am hoping that I don't have to buy a PCI Sata Card as I have a chip set that I think (hope) is compatible.

Also would you recommend using JungleFlasher or the DOS flashing method that I have seen on these forums.

Thanks again for all the help you guys are great!

you don`t need to buy anything..   the nforce chipset runs smoothly(as long as you dont install the nvidia nforce chipset driver) ....then the windows freezes when you plug in a drive...
jungleflasher is the way...(either way works the same)

If you read again is says intro not info.

Try the benQ unlock on jungle flasher first other wise you have to use the intro under flashing tasks.

I just read something terribly discouraging...aparently my motherboard which is the M2n32-SLI Deluxe...uses nforce 590 but for the sata it looks like it uses Silicon Image SiI3132 Serial ATA... does that mean I am screwed and have to buy the damned sata controller card???
