Lite-on Not Detected After Erasing, Please Help!
« on: June 09, 2009, 02:18:00 AM »

I'm at a loss at what to do. I had first installed iXtreme 1.4 months ago without a problem, but when attempting to upgrade my drive to 1.6 something went wrong. I got as far as erasing the drive without any issues, but upon erasing I was unable to get my drive into vendor mode. It was simple stuck at 0x80. Now, after eventually rebooting my pc, the drive is not even being detected and the only error code I can manage to get is Drive returned Status 0xD0. I don't even know what these error codes mean. Please help!

Here is my original log from JungleFlasher:

What is that supposed to mean? Should I consider the drive bricked?

No luck. I tried again this morning and I'm back to getting Drive returned status 0x80 in both JungleFlasher and Lite-On-Erase from the command line. JF's Drive Properties still reports No Drive Detected!

Are you sure you have the right port number?
Try l-o-eras in dos. you will need to make a bootable usb or floppy.

I'm positive I have the right port number. I used another drive to check at one point. (I have an old Samsung drive from a system that RRoD'd.) Although, I have two ports with that same number, both a master and a slave. The drive is on 0xCC00 Master. Do I need to specify this in Lite-On-Erase?

I've never had to use dos before. Can you point me in the right direction on how to boot to dos with a system that doesn't have a floppy drive and still have access to the required files?

first up...after liteon erase...don`t be so hasty ..you don`t need to actually do the power cycle in quick succesion..     so...       after you do a liteon erase ..let the drive do its erasing process then leave it to give the intro and fail ...after that ..just do a power cycle to the drive...then intro ... it will give a good write status.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)         if not.. than best go with iprep(dosflash) for dos ....BUT KEEP IN MIND   your problem is the power cycling

if you have a 512k memstick then put iprep onto this also you want to add l-o-eras and dosflash (the latestversion)...... you are now gonna need to put your lite_CFW.bin onto the stick, once you have these reboot yyou sysem then look for boot options u can genrally find these in you bios setup or by hitting f8.

if you find this in bios setup then tell it to look for your mem stick as first boot or priority boot

once you have done this load iprep but dont use it, just type l-o-eras port (PORT being your port key so dont just type port)
tou should return with ff80 do this about twice then power cycle your dvd try again about twice then you should get ff72

once this is done..... type dosflash

this will ask you if you want to send mtk or some shit just hit N

you will now be asked where is your drive mine is located on no. 6 if the same then just hit 6 and enter

now this is the fun part ...... you will get several options choose liteon E this will erase the drive again

once this has finshed

run dosflash again.... follow the earlier steps till you get to the options again this time you want to write you firmware so you should hit W

it will ask you where to find the firmware... provide you put your custom firmware onto you stick then type

lite_cfw.bin this will now write the firmware....

we are all done now restart you computer and put your drive back in your box

hope this helps

I gave this one more shot before I attempt dos, but it did't give me any better result.

Drive returned Status 0xD0

I'll try your instructions, headonism. I'll let you know how it goes.

Yes.

Edit: Also, I can't seem to get iprep 009 to load any firmware. I've updated the definitions to the ones on 360Mods, but they don't seem to match anything. I keep getting No Valid Firmware Loaded.

Edit 2: Scratch that, I got it to load.

Edit 3: I was able to boot with iPrep, and I ran l-o-eras cc00, but I got status FFD0 rather than FF80. Any idea what this means?

Wow, sorry about the double-post. Meant to edit again.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Nice video. I followed everything he said until he ran l-o-eras.exe in dos, but now I'm getting status FF00. That's different than what I was getting, but I'm still not sure what that means.
