Drive No Longer Detected After Jf Error
« Reply #15 on: June 02, 2009, 10:37:00 AM »

i had same problem.
there's no fix for it. i tried everything.
just buy new drive from ebay and fresh it again but don't use
jungle flasher to flash it. make FW using jungle flasher and
use dosflash to flash it when you get new drive. it will work.

you see, jungle flasher messed up both my sammy drive and
hitachi drive when i tried to flash it with. it froze during the
check and windows stopped detecting both of my drive after that
incident. i could flash them to orignal firmware on dos flash or mtk flash
but even after that, i get e65 error and windows still wouldn't detect
either of drive. i had to buy new drives(around $30 on ebay including shipping). =(

Just to add my resolution to this. We purchased a new drive and had the thing up and running within minutes. I would love to find out what the cause of this was since most have said these benq drives are unbrickable. Flashed 20+ with the same setup.

dude...if the drive is not recognized ...it can mean 2 things..   bad firmware(it doesnt eject tray also) or bricked(board fried wich is less likely)....   so power the drive run JF... choose what port you know the drive is on... the send a liteon erase command on it(yes it works on benq too) ... the do a power cycle and send an intro command           watch the status...as that will show you if the drive is recognized or not...      a 7F  status  means it doesnt recognize anything     ...if it does recogniezes it it will enter in vendor mode(0x73)

just try it... you owe it to yourself wink.gif

FORGOT TO SAY>...JF recognieze all drives..bad firmware,no firmware  it just doesnt show up in list, but it`s there...to access it it must get in vendor mode....         you know the rest of the drill... (erase ..then intro)

Cool man... I'll give it a shot. Hard for me to believe it is dead but if i can bring it back maybe i'll try and replace my hitachi with it. It was one of my first flashes and i think i forgot to plug in the av cable and the box powered off. done about 50 in my area since. even made my own connectivity kit.

i had same problem with liteon drive. 360 constantly blinking but drive seems dead.
i tryed everything. wouldnt recognise even in dos mode. drive was just not there.
 grr.gif
HOW I FIXED IT!!!

i had a spare liteon drive and a older pc (the new pc's suck)
opened drive and soldered points (Tx, Rx, ground and 3.3 +) entered  JF.
i then read firmware
then put target firmware
then did a liteon erase
got to the point where it said are you sure, i clicked yes.
then it said the vendor message "when erase is complete , vendor intro will be sent....................."
at this point i didnt click anything
i desoldered the good liteon drive and disconnected the drive
i then got the non recognisable drive, put tray half way(manually), soldered points(COM), plugged in sata and power
then pressed enter and turned off power , then turned on.
it recognized with correct intro (winbondetc......)
then flashed .
drive is back biggrin.gif .
i think the blame are the new pc's.
the old pc i used was a ibm386 biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif
