does iprep take a more aggressive approach? I ask because I restored the pc to a previous date and reinstalled everything and the drive will still not show in dosflash or jungleflasher

try half tray open and click intro device id tab in JF
portio drivers installed and via card disabled with driver removed from windows/sys32/driverfolder
retry this first
take it u r running xp with net framework 2.0 installed

how do I open the tray when it wont eject?? (even connected to the xbox)
havent disabled the card itself yet but i dont think I did when I first read the FW. I'll try. no drivers installed

iprep cannot detect the drive either. tested card with a hdd and it worked fine. no dice on the benq though

once you have isabled card and removed drivers make sure you go back and renable the card
its in the JF tut under appendix
u can manually open the drive but requires takinjg apart and pushing a black tab on the side
r u sure you are selecting the correct port on the left in JF
u do know what port u r suppose to use

wrote down the port so I would know. I have gone through and tried them all just for kicks. Is opening the tray neccesary?

depends was the benq stock or had it been modified previously as there are a few ways in which to get into vendor mode
so you have
portio drivers installed
runningxp with net framework 2.0
disabled card removed viamraid.file from the driver folder in windows and renabled your card so you have an yellow exclamation mark restarted computer
u know correct port address
ground the box to the computer
u boot computer first power drive then run JF and you say it still doesnt recognize drive

correct. JF worked partially for like 3 flash attempts succeding with a bad flash once. after that the drive will no longer show. reinstalled everything after restoring pc to earlier date. tested card also. card works but no drive.

just tried to flash a hitachi 47 and could not send mode b through JF using my via card. it did show up though which is more than the benq is doing but port io was grayed out on hitachi tab. I had to use a usb adapter and slax disk to do the flash.

Erase in dos then write cant you do the same as you would with a liteon just little diff.

sounds great other than I cannot detect the drive. "No ATAPI device found" tried every port (I know the correct one) dosflash, JF, Iprep...ect.. no joy. If you can tell me a way to discover the drive I will be very happy

flashed a benq and sammy with no problem today although I noticed with the sammy that after I flashed it, the drive properties were gon and no device present when I reopened JF (without ever turning the xbox off). Is there some trick after flashing 1.6. I think the drive is dead.

u cant eject and its got no power possibly bricked

if it can detect the sammy should detect the benq
r u saying the benqs bricked no power or eject
did you send the outro/ata reset to the benq drive after you flashed previously
so long as you select the right port u can try device/id tab to try to recognise and then try again
