Liteon 1.5 -> 1.6 W/o Getting The Key
« on: May 17, 2009, 08:27:00 AM »

Hi all,

I got my 360's dvd drive flashed a couple months back to firmware version 1.5, i paid a ridiculous amount of money to this guy to do this and now i decided to go try flashing it myself..

The problem is that i dont have a connectivity kit or a chip or whatever to get the key out of it, but i recall reading that you dont neccesarily need to key to flash it to a newer firmware since it has already been flashed...

Is this information correct? I can't find any topics about it and I really wonder if its right..

I got my xbox opened up already and i can hook it up to the computer easily, but i just need to know if its do-able without getting the key first.. And also wandering how to proceed.., since everyone keeps talking about half-opening-up the tray and stuff.. or is this only to get the key??

Thanks in advance,

bartosie

If you flash your drive without the key then you will need to spend much more money that you paid to get it flashed to replace your console that you will have bricked.

Since it has ix 1.5 you wont need to full connectivity kit but you will still need to read the drives firmware to get the dump files to make a proper ix 1.6 firmware for your drive before you can flash it.

Get the latest Jungle Flasher and click the tutorial link within the program.

Just need a sata sable and use the 360 to power the drive, as it's already flashed with 1.5 you can just create a dummy.bin from the drive, follow the JF tutorial.

got it hooked up to my clean 32bit vista PC and did the half open tray method BEFORE starting up the PC

i set sata mode from enhanced to compatible and they bios recognized the drive like it should..

the problem im having is that windows loads up REALLLYY slow, like incredibly slow.. even weirder is that whenever i close the tray, things start to speed up again...

anyone know what might be wrong??

my specs:
asus p5q, p45 chipset
intel e8500
vista x86 sp1

jungle flasher doesnt recognize the drive either..

yes i installed portio32, it even shows up in the device manager, so i think i should be good on that..

does it matter on what kind of sata slot i put it in? should i set it as a primary master?! or shouldnt that matter?

you serious about letting the computer start up first? before turning on the drive?
that would really help..

im going to try that now..

edit: wow tried that, got the neccesary files, and then pressed Liteon-Erase.. and i got an 0x50 error and it says that device intro failed?!

did i brick my drive?

Jesus man, you're going to confuse him more than he already is!

Find L-O-E.exe [dos based lite on erase program]
find your lite-CFW.bin  [the resultant ixtreme v1.6 firmare jungleflasher created for you, or create it again fom the dump files]
find Dosflash v1.7

make a bootable USB thumbvdrive with dos , the above tools, and the lite-CFW.bin on it.

c:> L-O-E.exe  [port memory address, e.g. DCF0]
once, powercycle, again, powercycle, again, powercycle, again, now you should have status 72.

powercycle one last time.

c:> Dosflash   [enter]

choose the drive by the number.
press w for write   [enter]
type lite-CFW.bin [enter]

DONE

yeah i got 4 files from it, but when it was dumping the dummy.bin file it said something that it wasnt loaded correctly and asked if i wanted to continue..

i said yes and it asked me to repair the dummy.bin file.., it needed some kind of barcodes that it was missing or something... i just skipped that and went ahead and tried flashing it, since it finally showed up in JF, so i thought i was good to go!

but then after loading 1.6-repack and going to liteon-erase it gave me that error..

ever since ive been rebooting my pc/switches sata ports but it hasnt been showing up in JF..

i guess ill try & find out how dosflash works..

can i just put my dummy.bin file here, so you guys might see if something is missing ?
