Whats the easiest way to read the dvd key from a samsung ms28? Its nackered and wanna replace it with a good hitachi drive i got.

I can see the drive in JF as i flashed it a while ago with ixtreme but i can't remember if it was 1.4 or 1.51 as my HDD failed lost all the info.

So you want advice yet all you can say is 'nackered'?!?   Im guessing you mean it wont read disks and/or the tray wont open (commonly occurs to Samsung). If this is the case the easiest thing to do is replace the drives and swap over the PCB boards..that way you dont need to flash the new one.

If you have bricked the drive..use bad flash recovery method. If all reocvery methods fail..then all that can be done is giving the PCB board to an expert who can remove the chip and plug it into an external programmer, get the key that way.

As in makes a grinding noise and not Reading discs retail or otherwise. Nevermind tho I sorted it using the force method from jumgleflasher tut. spoofed the hitachi all working fine now.
