I copied the serials from my drive and used Geremia's (sp?) tool to integrate it into the hacked firmware, you shouldn't need to extract them from your dump, just double check when inputting them (the tool rejects invalid serials anyway afaik)

I used dosflash, your mileage may vary, JF just didn't work no matter what I did.

thanks man, i'll give that a shot
i am pretty sure that i know the numbers, but i will use that tool and move on.

QUOTE(uradodah @ May 17 2009, 11:58 AM) *
Finally, what do you guys know that C4eva and Team HyperX doesn't know?  With *no* disrespect intended - they've been the ones creating the firmware and have had all the right info in the past.  If they're telling us that M$ has possibly used drive speed as one of the detection methods in past ban waves, why shouldn't we believe them?

You guys are acting like people are saying M$ will ban you solely for using a non-12x drive speed f/w.  Nobody is saying that.  However, what they are saying is that they believe drive speed was one of the many factors used in previous ban waves.

You're mistaken, c4e has never said M$ has used drive speed as a detection method, ever.  There's not a single Live log indicating anything of the sort, and no one has said they believe drive speed was a factor in any ban waves, period.

What c4e has said it that he thinks it could be potentially detectable someday, no matter how unlikely, and therefore it's not something he wants to support any longer.  I understand that position.  But that is a very far cry from saying it has caused ban waves.

QUOTE(robo989 @ May 17 2009, 12:18 PM) *

Complete BS and speculation, not to mention such a simple theory that assumes they only have code to detect what speed a drive is running at any given time. A check could be built into what speed the drives attempts to spin the disc up at first.

Again, the Live logs have never indicated any drive speed check, period.  Could they do it in the future?  Maybe, which is the heart of the matter.  But there are a lot of things they "could" do in the future.

QUOTE(robo989 @ May 17 2009, 12:18 PM) *

There goes your theory. Just buy a hard drive and stop pirating games. Only people who are that stingy to COMPLAIN about this, something they've been given for free are people who pirate games...also too stingy to buy a fucking hard drive.

Quit your whining and get lost.

You weren't directly responding to me, but I'll tell you I have multiple 360s, and I have more than enough disposable income to put 120GB drives in my 360s, and I still hack my firmware to run at 5x.  It's not because I'm cheap.  It's because I have way too many games to rip them all, and a house full of kids with fickle tastes and short attention spans who (see "Murphy's Law") seem to never want to play a game that's already on the hard drive.

As for running your mouth and cutting people down--perhaps you could cool your jets, Goose.  Nobody's complaining here as far as I can tell, it's just a discussion.  You may want to quit reading if you can't handle that.

BIG thanks to the team!

I have now been able to update from 1.51 to 1.6 using only JF 1.6 with click click ease.
Just removed the "repack" from firmware filename and all went auto smooth  biggrin.gif

I didn't mistake anything.  Go back to what I said...what part of the following statement was confusing?
QUOTE
...they're telling us that M$ has possibly used drive speed as one of the detection methods in past ban waves...

Never did I say C4eva specifically said they absolutely, 100% used drive speed to ban people.  However, what I did say is that C4eva said it has possibly been used.  Let me say it again just to be sure we're on the same page...possibly.

Further, didn't I even clearly clarify myself in the same quote??

While it wasn't on this forum, I - in fact - have seen comments directly from Commodore indicating he believes drive speed could have been a factor.  You can't dispute that because, unless you're him, you have no clue what he's said in any particular comment.  You can disagree with it - and I respect your opinion.

I'd just appreciate it if you wouldn't put words in my mouth in the future.  Clearly, in this case, you're the one who's mistaken about what I said.  Not me.

That statement is factually inaccurate.  The word "was" has a distinct meaning.  Saying drive speed "was" a factor used in previous ban waves asserts that it definitely occurred, which is not what "they" said at all.  What "they" did say is that maybe it occurred, but "they" have never captured evidence of it occurring, so "they" simply do not know either way.

Now you are attempting to revise your statement by misquoting yourself and replacing "was one of the factors" with "has possibly been used and "could have been a factor."

There is a distinct difference between saying something "was" a factor vs. saying something "could have been" a factor.  I disagree with your original assertion and agree with your revisions.  End of story.

Thanks alot for the post. I have flashed the drive without any hassles. I just had one question before i start playing. Sorry if i sound stupid. So far what i know is that we should burn the game at the lowest speed possible. Now with this 12x speed config in the new firmware. Does that mean that we have the burn the games at 12x to be safe or not?

Again thanks to everyone here for all the help and the firmwares...
