i installed 1.6 on ms28 runs good so far and also about drive speed its better at 12x it saves time from the team having to make other speeds for the firmware and it helps for security purposes just in case

pretty sad that these guys can't release the Hitachi firmware at the same time...

so how long do Hitachi drive owners have to wait for 1.6 firmware??

we had to wait 2 additional months for the 1.5 when it came out..

I burned it on a DVD DL with clonecd like I burn all my xbox games and it works.
You HAVE to use a DVD DL!

But I think i'm going back to iXtreme 1.51
I like to play The Chronicles Of Riddick, but now when I want to play it I have to put that activation disc in EACH time..
It really is a pain in the ass.

Total Success thanks to some of the suggestions in this thread. I haven't checked a wave 3 but I'm fairly confident. Thanks all.

Complete BS and speculation,

What you you mean is speculation?
- That I tested the 1.6 FW with lower speeds or
- that the drive determines the read speed on its own or
- that the SDK urges the developers to make
their games run at the denoted lower speeds the drive
may choose?

I Guess you are spreading lies, because you neither
got a look into the XDK and as well because you
have no idea of how the speed setting is handled by
dvd drives.

But that´s your probem... Do not blame me for your
inabillity.

QUOTE(robo989 @ May 17 2009, 07:18 PM) View Post

not to mention such a simple theory that assumes they only have code
to detect what speed a drive is running at any given time. A check could
be built into what speed the drives attempts to spin the disc up at first.

So what? Such an application would never know if the
lower speed was set by an unchanged original FW with
a worn out laser or a defective medium that caused the
lower speed setting or by a modified FW. I guess you just
do not have enough knowledge of the inner working of
error correction handling by optical drives.

There goes your theory. Just buy a hard drive and stop pirating games. Only people who are that stingy to COMPLAIN about this, something they've been given for free are people who pirate games...also too stingy to buy a fucking hard drive.
Quit your whining and get lost.

You are just a poor lamer trying to get attention by
using insults in spite of arguments.

Recognizing the 360 can - and does - change drive speeds at times, I'd still like to play devil's advocate here and ask another question.

Well, there is an error in your interpretation of your
perception.
The drive sets the read speed on it´s own according to
the media type. Actually the drive does not even support
a standard command to set or detect the currently set drive
speed. Indeed that would not prevent the kernel to measure
the read speed. But the kernel regards the denoted lower
speeds as valid, because they are an intentionally supported
measure by the drive´s ecc algorithm. So it wil not regard
them as suspicious.

So I went to update my liteon from 1.51 today. In jungle flasher when I got to the step where you power down the drive then power it back up to erase it something went wrong. Jungle flasher stopped recognizing the drive and my ck3 pro won't eject it. I put it back in the 360 and I get one flashing red light with e 64 and the drive will not eject. this is the 7th time Ive flashed a drive and never had anything like this happen. If worse comes to worse Im assuming I can just flash another liteon as i have a backup key but is there anything I can do to save this one?

Same thing happened to me when I was upgrading a drive from 1.5 to 1.51. What i did was create my lite_CFW.bin in JF and added it to a USB stick along with L O Erase, Dosflash etc. Erased it again with L O Erase and wrote the FW with Dosflash. That solved the problem for me.

I restarted the computer and loaded up JF again. It still would not detect my drive. I went ahead and made a new 1.6 firmware and hit flash anyway. And...it worked. wtf? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I was about to update my BenQ VAD6038 from iXtreme 1.4 to the new v1.6, but that proved to be rather difficult?

I've always used iprep + dosflash, which worked flawlessly with my P5Q-Deluxe (Intel P45 / ICH10R) based motherboard.. But now when I try to update to v1.6 the latest iprep 101 v008.8 Pro BETA version doesn't seem to support iXtreme 1.6? sad.gif

I did try with JungleFlash but no matter what I do it wont recognize / locate the BenQ VAD6038 driver?
Tried with both RAID and IDE / Compatibility mode without any sort of luck?
