Hello!

I am a little puzzled, as this is my 1st attempt to update to 1.51 my TS-H943A dvd... (still have the 1st gen x360 without HDMI working excellent!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) )
I have purchased a Maximus Xtractor PRO v1.2 from a local dealer , and I have a PCI sata/ide VIA 6421A card.
I connect the sata cable on the 6421A with the dvd, then I connect correctly the dvd power/data cable with the xtractor, and finally the usb cable between pc-xtractor.
I put the xtractor switch to ON , and power up the pc...  Blue light is ON, and I can eject the DVD...
When I get to the VIA RAID screen, it just says there is a hardware error, and to press "g" to continue, which reboots the machine.
I thought, OK maybe there is a prob with the pc I am testing (an older VIA PM800pro mobo) so I put it on my main pc. Still the same, drive does not get recognised... I even tried using the onboard ICH10 ports, but dvd is still not recognised...
Obviously I am doing something terrible wrong, can anyone pinpoint my error in this?
Thanks for all the help!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Fully boot-up your pc before powering up your xbox drive...

@hardie:

Yes, I have installed the USB drivers before connecting the xtractor to the pc... although the VIA mobo did not recognise it at all , whereas my main PC found an "XTRACTOR 360 PRO" device... BUT in both situations the drive was powered on boot time...

@BenieUK

When I tried that on my VIA mobo (boot with xtractor OFF) windows loaded fine, and the moment I power on the xtractor I get an INSTANT freeze. The computer needs a reset after that... thus I did not try that on my main intel-based pc...

so the correct process is:

1. load windows drivers and shutdown
2. connect drive to VIA card, power via xtractor and usb xtractor cable, but NOT powered on at all
3. boot windows
4. open "xtractor reader" or "jungleflasher"
5. power ON xtractor and continue?

am I right?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

The only feature of the Xtractor you need to give a hoot about is using it to power the drive, USB and the Xtractor showing in Windows is irrelevant for Samsungs.

Hook it up, as simple as possible.

Drive --> Sata to PC

Xtractor --> PC Power Molex & Cable to Drive

Power on,

Load Windows

Load JungleFlasher

Proceed with user guide.

*Assuming you have installed PortIO32

You have made sure you have no VIA drivers installed at all? if not that will probs cause the "freeze"

No, just what comes with xp sp3...
I will do a fresh install tomorrow on an intel mITX mobo that uses SIS chipset and I will install no VIA drivers at all for the card, only what xp installs... Also this card has a raid bios, does it matter? It works fine as a sata/pata card for normal use...

I'll be damned! I install a silicon image 3114 4-port controller, windows installed automatically it's driver, and behold!  the 360 xtractor application immediatelly found the drive! what's more, because I did forget it, the xtractor was powered-on from boot, and the damn thing worked!!!!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

...and unfortunatelly jungleflasher does not pick up the drive on the same port... wtf? not to mention that I cannot install any via driver, even if my southbridge is 8237 and the card is a 6421A one. clearly a windows problem?

Of course it's not the same port, it's a different controller and memory addresses altogether.

but I do select the same port on jungleflasher...
I gave up on this via/xp combo, and move the 6421A card to my intel_mobo/vista pc. Drive gets detected at once on both xtractor app and jungleflasher  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  But now I need to create the inlock ISO  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I must THANK EVERYONE for taking the time to reply here, you have my gratitude  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)  I hope all gets well from now on!

You don't need any unlock iso.
It's built into JungleFlasher.

well the method where you power on/off the drive did not work for me, so I just burned the iso, all went super-smooth and the whole procedure took me about 10minutes  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)  It appears this drive was flashed with xtreme5.3a , must be an ancient CFW  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)   so all went very well, thanks to everyone for their support!!!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

edit:
and one final Q, just because I am curious... LOL
Since I have a Maximus Xtractor PRO, do I need the SPEAR to extract keys from LiteON drives, or the latest jungleflash does that via sata? sorry if this sounds a stupid question, but I consider getting the Spear just to have it, I am thinking of getting a newer 360 that has HDMI output...
