Replace Dvd Drive Without Dummy.bin
« on: February 02, 2020, 11:39:00 PM »

Hi, several months ago I bought a premodded Xbox 360, Falcon V1 board with BenQ drive, the drive was premodded with iXtreme V1.5, and then I updated it to 1.51. Now my drive is broken (some voltage regulators are blown and it doesn't power up, power led blinking) and if it's possible I want to replace it with another drive. I've read that I have to change the key in the new drive to match the one in the old drive, but since the drive doesn't power up I can't extract the key, but I have the 2 files JungleFlasher made when I updated the drive, BENQ-OFW.bin and BENQ_CFW.bin, is it possible to spoof a new drive if I only have these 2 files? Apart from that issue, the console works perfectly, it boots into the dashboard, I can play Arcade games and game demos, and the Disc tab shows Opening and Closing intermittently. Any advice would be very appreciated.

yes just read the key from either of these firmwares
copy and paste the key and save somewhere safe or you can save a key bin file in jf BUT KEEP SAFE

Could you please elaborate more, hardie? What software would extract the key from the firmware dumps? And what software should I use to flash the key into the new drive? Thanks.

use firmware toolbox4.8 or jungleflasher to read the key and inject into the new firmware
use iprep, dos or jungleflasher to flash the drive

Ok, I've extracted the key with Firmware Toolbox 4.8, it's a 32 character key. Assuming I already have the drive, how should I inject the key into the new Firmware? If it's an older version of iXtreme, should I update it before spoofing, after spoofing or can it be done at the same time? Sorry for all the questions, I've never spoofed a drive before, the only thing I've done is update the firmware.

A million ways to skin a cat i guess, but assuming you have a benq drive to replace it with, Id be copying the ofw into the firmtool folder and running the firmtool batch tool to create a new 1.51 hacked cfw, then using an iprep'ed drive to flash it.

Thanks for your help Tron, but could you explain it in a simpler way? I'm not a native English speaker, so sometimes it's a problem. Anyway, I'm looking into buying a pre spoofed and flashed Lite On drive, if the new drive has the same key as the old drive it should work perfectly, shouldn't it? And if the drive has another key, would the Xbox just not boot or would I get banned from Live because of that? Thanks again.

Sorry for the double post, but I couldn't see an edit button. Ordered a premodded Lite On drive, spoofed with my key, should arrive sometime this week, sent the seller my key and firmware dumps, i'll post again later on how it goes.
