Remove Via Drivers From Vista :)
« on: February 02, 2020, 08:13:00 PM »

I'm not sure about the rest of you guys but I searched high and low for some sort of information on how to permanently remove VIA drivers from vista. Some may of installed the drivers at one time or did a windows update like me.

Disable the Raid card by going to Device Management and right clicking on device and choosing disable.
Once done go to C:\Windows\System32 and delete or remove vsmraid.sys.

Now I am sure some of you have read that this has been the answer before but noticed that when you restart or refresh drive list on JungleFlasher, the via drivers reinstall them selves. Thats cause they are not fully removed as of yet.

So you must do the following:
Run CMD
Type,   takeown /f C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\

Enter  “SUCCESS”

Type,  cacls C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository /G YourUserName:F

Enter “are you sure (Y/N)”

Y  Enter

“Processed dir C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\”

After this remove or delete both vsmraid.inf_##### folders. Where # is will be different numbers per person.
Should only be two folders to remove or delete from C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\

Now you can go back and enable the VIA Card. Should have an ! by it now. Might have to restart. Wasn't sure I did it any way.

Hope this helps you all. Use the info, sticky this post or add to tutorial. JungleFlasher tutorial does not show how to remove drivers, only for xp they do. Maybe they will add this to the tutorial.
