Arcade Xbox 360 Purchased Today Dvd Key Issse Litoen
« on: April 28, 2009, 08:41:00 AM »

Hi

Just purchased a new arcade pack version of the xbox. Using the same device as I have used before to dump the key from liteon drives, for some reason I am unable to get the key from this new drive (same model number as old) The Xbox has the newer paper based warranty seal.

I know that the device is functioning correctly and the loopback test also confirms this, and it is able to read keys from older liteon's.

Is anyone aware of any changes to the liteons stopping dvdkeys being extracted.

Regards

That sticker has been out for years now. Its this one i assume.

IPB ImageThe bad serial data means you prob dont have the tray in the right place, fiddle around with it until you get a good read. Half, 3/4 usually works for most drives.

And as for the new drive, I doubt it but post the drive specs or a pic if you are still convinced.

What tool are you using and are you 'plug-pulling' for the eject?  Sometimes you have to fiddle around to get it in the proper state.
Could be a difficult joint, so perhaps scrape the 707 a little to ensure you're touching the metal

*How easy is it to remove the paper sticker?

I had exactly the same problem i chipped a liteon in the moring no problems , then i had two come in from the repair center both with the paper seals both gave me an error when saving the dummy file it then gave me the option to repair the details taking the serial numbers off the pcb board the lense and the number off the front of the drive. I also noticed that the drive number on drive serial tab on jungleflasher and the number on the driver were different. ive chipped a few Liteons since then with no problems i also checked a few old liteons i have here and they all worked fine. so maybe something has changed, i might be worth looking in to.
Using the 360 extractor pro with spear and jungle flasher 1.55 beta and xtractor reader 2.9 i tried both and they both gave me the same errors

Just push in the tray eject bar on the bottom and pull tray out halfway, no need to fiddle around with turning off half way

Then take the drive PCB out and probe R707 from the bottom, you will have to remove the 3 ribbon cables and the 2 screws to do so.

Thanks for you help guys,

not really sure on this one either we have a big problem and MS has changed the drives or its just my drive...

right, i have lent a drive of a friend of mine...

Friends drive details:-
Model : DG-18D2S
Manufacture : August, 2008
HW Ver: A0A1
FW Ver: 74850C

this drive worked first time no problem key extrated easy... every time no problem!!!

however my drive will not extract the key no matter what i do...
My drive details:-
Model : DG-18D2S
Manufacture : January,2009
HW Ver: A0A2
FW Ver: 74850C

Now i really have tried everything i can think of, ive even tried tracing back the R707 ive traced it back to r52 circled on this pic ((IMG:http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/5093/dsc01611a.th.jpg))

If your info is correct then you have a new hardware Liteon with the same older firmware.

However I have seen a rumor of this fable new drive a couple months ago that turned out to be a fake so who knows.

I have had a liteon with a manufacture date of Jan 2009 come back on a warranty return (had the paper warranty sticker as posted above).  I can't recall the hardware / firmware versions off hand.

I was able to extract key + drive identify + inquiry using Jungleflasher v0.1.55b

The one thing that was different was when checking with giampy's drive serial dummybin fixer, the PCB number now starts with S4P9 (when it was expecting S4P8).  I don't know if the other tools sees this as an error or not.

That looks like it says 16D2s not 18D2S. But yes I see the difference in the HW Version AOA2.

This could be bad news.

Well there you go, It seems this new revision drive finally exists. Personally I thought it would be a bit longer before we started seeing a lite on revision, but here it is.

Someone should start a new thread about this new drive. This is pretty big news here.
