I Need A Dvd Key Extracted From A Hitachi 79!
« on: April 15, 2009, 11:05:00 PM »

Okay the story...
I purchased an Xbox off eBay, listed as"The drive stopped reading discs while I was playing it"  I received the Xbox360, it's had an xclamp replacement and a fan mod performed, the dvd power cord had been spliced and this is where they drew power for the fan.  It came with the dvd drive disconnected, I hooked it up and got a 0031 error.  Replaced the DVD power cord with a normal one and system booted to dash no problem, but the drive was acting bricked. Unresponsive to open/eject no laser movt, etc...  I hooked the drive up to my computer anyways.  jungleflasher does see the drive and CAN put it into mode B, once in Mode B it will open/close and the laser searches.  So I put in the 79 unlock cd, assuming I burned it correctly it plays and unlocked it, at least Jungleflasher says it did, but when I try to dump the drive, I get an error.  I've tried NUMEROUS times.  So either the unlock cd isn't working, or I think something like the ?controller?chip got destroyed.  I don't know all I know is I need that key to replace the drive.  I've read the tsop chip can be soldered off and read by somebody other than me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)  I want to pay that somebody to do this for me, but can't find you!!!!  I'm tired of sending pm's asking, hopefully you'll see this or know someone who can.  Preferably from the USA, and all I need is the dvd key, but would prefer the orig.bin, if possible.  If you have the know how, please PM me with your price.  Since all you need is the tsop chip, I'm only going to send you the pcb.  I'm not interested in paying an extra $10 for shipping (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)  You can email me the key. HELP   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

not tryin to scare you but...hmmmm this sounds a little shady to me.  You bought an xbox360 on ebay with some guy that said, " I was playing a game, and it died on me".  And you bought it and now has 0031 error? Why would the guy splice the power from the dvd to get power for the fans?  There is a whole lot going on there.
Might be a bad key on there. It is not really worth it to send it out to a firmware pro to exact it...if it comes out all zeros.

oh one more real obvious thing.  Even if the key were good. How do you know it contains the matching key for the xbox360 that it 'came with'? ????? More questions than answers there.

This is true. I will remove the drive key and firmware for him if he wants but there is a very good chance that the drive key and firmware will not match the console he got from eBay.

There has been many cases where people bought broken 3rrod consoles from eBay and fixed them only to find out they still got burned because someone stuck a broken drive in the console that does not match the console it came from.

LOL you guys are good.  I finally got a dump out of it, by switching jf to win api mode, but the DVD key was blank. $$^&@%*@*&(#$  All 0's when I changed it to a txt file and looked at it.  Yeah, I did think about the drive key not matching the console but I was willing to take that chance.  The drive that came in the console does work.  I swapped it with another hitachi console I have, and it played the games.

Now that I've gotten a dump of all 0's, are you guys saying the key is destroyed and can't be recovered?  Or are the zero's just a result of the controller chip being fried from the electrical short? And thank you for your response's.  My faith in this site is restored again.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Yeah sounds like its not the original drive of the system or the guy Fed' up on a flash and ruined the key.  You basically have a paperweight.

I would just try to re-sell on ebay to make a few bucks back, Just say it has no key and it is all broken, someone might pick it up for $20 for parts.  You usually can get some flow if you sell the cords with it.

I've got the exact same problem. Inquiry fine, tray opens/closes but firmware dump is all zeros.
REALLY annoying as it had E74 which I fixed with x-clamp fix.

I was a bit suspicious that an HDMI unit from April 07 had a 2006 Hitachi in it.

On a different but related note, I'm a bit confused as to whether it's possible to read the DVD key from the motherboard. I know I know, everyone says on these forums there is no way to get it. They always take great care to emphasise the NO bit in capitals as well  wink.gif

However, I've not yet seen an explanation (or even any chat) about the fact that the infectus 2 chip can apparently do it, if you believe their website. Or is it not true?

Yes the infectus chip can do it if these things are met.

1. You have to have an older non HDMI 360.
2. It has to be running an old dashboard (cant have been updated)
3. This is the big one guys. Read very carefully these next few words. YOU HAVE TO HAVE YOUR DRIVE KEY FLASHED ONTO A WORKING 360 DVD ROM SO YOU CAN LOAD THE GAME KING KONG TO RUN THE GAME EXPLOIT NEEDED! Thats right folks you need to have your drive key and know it before you can do any of this to be able to get that same drive key from your motherboard.
