one or two y's do not mean anything. It must be mean something specific to only the samsung class of firmware.  I have done liteon's, hitachi, and benq with J/F .26 beta, J/F 1.51 beta, 1.55, and everytime the samsung f/w always have a 'y' in the erasing or writing part. No big deal.

found out how to get JF 155beta to work now.  when i click device intro tab, it ask to resend, i shut my 360 down and listen for it to stop completly which usually takes about 3-4 seconds then i click yes on the resend button and turn my box back on at almost the same time.  hope this helps anybody else having problems.  it must have something to do with the way the timing attack works.  thanks again guys.
