Running Games Saved To Hard Drive
« on: April 13, 2009, 02:55:00 PM »

I've been thinking about how much I miss being able to just turn on my original xbox and pick a game straight from the hard drive. Since MS has added the ability to save games to the hard drive has anyone looked into somehow skipping or spoofing the check it does to make sure the disk is in the drive? So when the hard drive sends a signal to the disk drive it automatically response with "yep that disk is here" without looking at the disk at all. Obviously this is just a dumbed down explanation. I'm not saying it would be easy or even feasible but it seems possible.

I did a quick search so if this has already been discussed/is already in development forgive my poor searching skills.

I haven't heard one word of progress about this since the NXE release.

I know this has been talked about, I would be happy with the firmware altered to always report back that the disk in question is always in the drive.  but this is not an issue for me I am fine with having the correct game/backup in the drive

In noob theory it does sound easy, but in fact it would be quite hard and pointless to create. Have a read of this thread, all 2 pages and it will answer all your questions.
