i had the same thing mate updating my liteon to 151 yesterday what i did was just run dos with the drive connected and tray closed once in dos
press c: enter
once in c prompt press mkdir f enter
d: enter
copy *.* c:/f enter
c: enter
cd f enter
l-o-eras ecoo enter (which ever your port number is)
then that should return a f80 status type the same again and youll get a ff72 status
then type dosflash enter
will give error on finding drive hit fail
type dosflash again enter
then the 2nd time in dosflash you should have the option of what you want to do with the drive hit w
choose the name of your firmware and it should write

so just dont worry about pluggin and upluggin the drive you can force dosflash to write the firmware what the above does is just copy the contents of the disc to your harddrive then write it from there as everytime i was geting to the write opotion it was giving me an error on reading the boot disc i made.
you might not have to copy anything see how you go but ive flashed 3 liteons with this method and i have had no problems just leave the drive connected at all times in dos.

So you suggesting me to copy everything to my hard disc as i can see and run the commands from there instead of usb flash drive..I'll give it a try in a couple of hours that i'll be home..have nothing to lose and i haven't try that yet..Thank you for your interest..!

Question though..when you say the same thing happened to you yesterday..you mean that it stopped (for no reason) when you were flashing it??? (as it did to me and hetster as it seems)..or your pc froze when you did the lite-on-erase?? Because it not the same...

EDIT:I just saw that you got an an error on reading the boot disc you made.So not the same but i'll give it a try......

yeah did the same thing i dont no why i bothered but i thought the new jf beta would be pretty stable
so went the jf route and it froze in the write so drive was dead again
just put my firmware created in jf onto a win 98 boot disc then used dos

dos is the best way mate pm me if you get stuck

you may have to use another computer to do your liteon
if not you can make a bootable floppy which is A:/ so it frees up you C:/

ok forget those steps then
and try l-o-eras till you get a status
go from there
its only really needed to copy those files if you get an error in dos saying something like unable to read from drive when you write or earase.

you should have access to your hd from dos if connected try different drive letters a,d,b,g ect till you get a prompt

You misunderstood me m8..I had the same problems as you from DOS aswell as i had from Windows..jafster suggested to me to copy all of my contents of the usb flash to my hard disc (normally C:\) and run the commands from there..and i told with that when i boot from the usb (which i made with iprep) the usb root is then c:\ and i cannot access then my hdd (i tried for a prompt to a:\, b:\, d:\, e:\, f:\ & g:\)

Last resort is to try on a different pc otherwise i 'll use a Benq drive that i have left from an older broken xbox...probably is like hardie said:

i think if JF fails at a certain point then whatever trigger is used to clear the firmware into a 0x72 state gets lost.

Seems like you are having the same problem i had, i never got i sorted. (check my post history)
I bought a new a drive and flashed in dos, worked perfect the first time.

From now on, i will allways erase and flash my drives in dos.
JF acts strange on this system, alltough i use JF to read keys from a hacked drive and build firmware.

I'm not sure if it will help, but you might have some luck with the instructions I posted here:

http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=680504

I had some problems that were very similar to what you're experiencing. Check it out and let me know if you have any luck.

Your post was one the first posts i checked before i made mine. I thought i'll find a solution because you said:

•   Computer crashed while erasing Liteon
•   Jungleflasher/DOSFLASH gets stuck on "Writing bank 0"
•   DOSFLASH reports "Unknown flash type" or similar errors.

which is what happened to me but unfortunately whatever i did..whatever i tried i never past your fifth step:

5. Run l-o-eras.exe XXXX twice until your drive reports it’s in 72 status (see the video link above if you’re confused – just make sure your Liteon is connected to the motherboard and NOT the VIA).
