try a different sata port on your computer and run dosflash again... go through every sata port that you have available if you have to, one of them should work.

Yes with the first attempt failed to go to status 72 but it went before i pressed write button on jf...!!!
I am sure that it went to status 72 because otherwise the WRITE button doesn't do anything and also i am 100% sure that it was writing on the left side of jf that it is in Vendor Mode...

Are You erasing the drive first? Once it asks you are you sure and you see the dots.... Power cycle the drive and it should take it from there. You should then be able to write without issues. If you get hung up I would start fresh using dos by doing L-O-ERAS (PORT#) You want a status of FFF7 or something along that line.  If you get a status of FF80 do the command again and it should read FF72, now do it once more and before you hit ENTER on the comand, power off the drive then power it on, Hit ENTER within 1 sec and you should be at status FFF7.

You are then clear to run dosflash. Let me know if you have other specific questions.

Do this:

1) Boot into dos with your USB key and hacked fw + dosflash on it.
2) type in l-o-eras SATA (where sata is a sata port like: EC00)
3) should show you ff80 at first, hit F1 and get the l-o-eras command back and hit enter, do this a few times, then power off and repower the drive.
4) Use L-o-eras again, should give you FF72 after a few tries.
5) type in dosflash, hit enter, choose the correct ports and you are set to flash.

Thank you all for your replies.

Today I'll try all the above to a different pc and i let you know. I am not so enthousiast about that though because my case in not the same like when you try to flash it from jf and the pc freezes...!!!

What really happend as i mentioned before is that when i pressed the WRITE button and the process of flashing began instead of seeing the usual:

Writing Bank 0: ................

Writing Bank 1: ................

Writing Bank 2: ................

Writing Bank 3: ................

I saw:
Writing target buffer to flash

Writing Bank 0: .              <----Just one dot..and then it looked like it was doing nothing but the pc didn't freeze at all...after approx. 10 secs the Flash Verification Test started at the log:

Flash Verification Test !

Reading Bank 0: ................

Reading Bank 1: ................

Reading Bank 2: ................

Reading Bank 3: ................

Write Verify Failed !

At my second attempt instead of sitting at Writing Bank 0: .  as it first did it went up to:
Writing Bank 0: ................

Writing Bank 1: ................

Writing Bank 2: ................

Writing Bank 3: .              <----here..just on dot of Writing Bank 3 and then i got the same error of course!!

Flash Verification Test !

Reading Bank 0: ................

Reading Bank 1: ................

Reading Bank 2: ................

Reading Bank 3: ................

Write Verify Failed !

After that i pressed Outro and now the drive is not recognised anymore.
I think It's slightly different what happened because the pc never frozen. I am getting the continuesly bliknking light on the xbox and the drive is not responding anymore..That is correct since it hasn't got a valid firmware anymore..the thing is that nothing is working to get it out of that state...:-(..especially the l-o-eras.exe SATAPORT & DOSFLASH way as i am getting all the times the same two statuses FF80 & FF7F(depending if i had swithced on the drive before the pc or after booting to DOS accordingly). Even if I power cycle the drive in both cases (either powered on before the pc or after entering DOS) the status doesn't change. The other weird thing is that if i turn of the dvd completely and do the l-o-eras command i again take the same status!!

PS: I am using a custom spear i have made myself and power from xbox. I dont have CK3 or smth else. I have already flashed 5 xbox360 2 times (1.5 firstly and 1.51 afterwards..) by this way..

because it was already flashed you did dump dummy from ixtreme
what were you using to dump file again ck3 kit and probe or homemade
if not if you saved the dummy file from when you first ever flashed this can be use so you just need to press the lite on eras tab
im guessing you know about the half tray open even if you are dumping dummy file only and erasing and flashing
not treating you like a noob as you said you have done some before
just trying to retrace step by step
im trying to remember as i have reflashed liteons with the newer firmware and in the log if it shows status as 0x80 or so i have hit the intro/device id tab and should show a status of 0x72

maybe its the power cycle as you are using the box to power maybe its too slow in responding to power up again
but you said you have done these before so i guess it wasnt a problem
i use a ck3 conn kit and its pretty quick
are you positive everything is connected properly like sata cable  and power cable nice and tight
and if you are using box earthed it to be sure
maybe try a different sata cable could be faulty
i would keep trying to erase again
never had a liteon that cant get to status 0x72 and not write to

I think what happened for unknown reason so far is a bad flash because everything was ok up to the point i pressed the WRITE button and then i got a Writing Bank 0 . with only 1 dot instead of 16 dots and after approx. 10 sec. (the pc never frozen though) it tried to verify the flash which actually never complete!! Is there any guide with bad flash for liteons??

I am pretty sure that everything else is ok because after that i have managed to flash two more xbox using the exact same equipment..even the same sata cable.

i actualy gave up and bought a new drive from ebay.

i had the exact same situation. i have posted about it before. in JF it got to flashing 3rd bank then froze. so i rebooted and decided to try in dos like i have hundreds of times before and cannot get it into 0x72 state it stays at 0x80 constantly.

i am not a n00b and have flashed over 200 xbox's and consider myself somewhat of an expert. even in other forums they have said if hetster cant fix it then it really is bricked lol. but i'm sure a few others may have more luck than me but i tried solidly for 3 days while waiting for delivery of the new drive for a customer and never got it out of 0x80. i even tried hotswapping with another liteon that was working. i got that detected in dosflash and got all the way to telling dosflash what firmware to write and then swapped the drives over and hit enter..that just froze pc as well..i have exhausted every method i can think of and just cannot get ti flashed..funny thing is i have flashed loads of liteons with no probs at all. even same drive revision/model seemingly exactly the same and still a no go. i really would give up on it and just buy a new drive.

i too have rescued drives in dosflash and dosflash is my prefered method. i wish i'd never bothered giving JF a try now lol. i think if JF fails at a certain point then whatever trigger is used to clear the firmware into a 0x72 state gets lost.

i keep trying as well. when someone brings me a drive to flash (mainly daily lol) then while my pc is in bits i allways give it 1 last try just on the offchance i may get lucky and get it into 0x72..but its been over 2 weeks now and tried on a daily basis and fails every time..

give up the ghost lol. i got a brand new lite-on for £20 inc delivery from ebay and it arrived within 48 hours of ordering..

Thanks!!..i guess..

Any idea why that happened?? There is no hardware reset or smth to get it out of that state??

I am going to try hotswap as well..just to be 100% sure..but i am thinking that i should hotswap them at the point before hitting enter at "liteon e" command and not at "w".Am I right?

it all depends..i tried the E command on the bricked liteon and it said it was succesful but it was still in 0x80..i then tried the same command with NO drive connected and it erased nothing and said it was succesful lol..

you can keep trying and may just get lucky..but ive been trying solidly for 2 weeks with no success..i have tried numerous things..different sata cables..different sata ports..different chipsets..lite on erase 32 bit lite on erase 16 bit..dosflash erase...jungle flasher erase..hotswapping..power cycling at all different times..the list is endless and unfortunately all with the same results..if you order a new drive you can then continue trying without the added pressure of thinking its a last resort..if you have a replacement drive it can becopme a project for you..i keep trying then i have a spare lite-on drive..as i do get a lot of xbox's with disk read error and the pot calibration doesnt allways work and when it does it doesnt last forever..especialy when people still insist on using aone cheap shit media for backups..its allways good to have a spare anyway...

but order a replacement and then play till your hearts content. i'll cross my fingers that you get success
