So somehow I lost my bin for my drive (i know, big uh oh) and I want to put a new drive in my 360. Is there any way to get the key? My PC recognizes the drive still but it wont dump

If you don't have a backup of the drive key then you don't have any choice but to try and get it from the drive somehow.

How did the drive get bricked?

What would be the best method for this?

I'm not exactly sure, I was trying to connect it to my pc through the old Blaster360, and then I smelled something burning and now its done.

I removed the blaster360 and was able to see the drive in mtkflash and this is what it showed

1 IDE Primary
2 IDE secondary
3 Extreme PRI

I selected 3

I can't remember exactly what it said, but it was something like port/something lol I can check if that is important

Sounds like you toasted it.

You are going to have to remove the tsop (not an easy thing to do) and buy an external programmer to extract the firmware and drive key (hope it is still intact).

There is nothing else you can really do if you don't have a backup of the drive key anywhere.

And what part of the board is the tsop? I have an external programmer already

If you have an external programmer then you should already know what part of the board it is.

Let me rephrase that: I have access to an external programmer lol

If you are not sure where the TSOP is then you probably shouldn't be attempting this procedure... you should have someone do it for you that knows what they are doing, then you will surely be successful (providing the key is still in the toasted thing  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) )

Before I go through all that , what would be the best procedure to try and read the bin file?  I have been using MTKFlash.

If anyone cares ? I was finally able to get org bin file from the board. I kept playing with the wait time on MTKFlash and it dumped the org bin. I got key from drive and used JF to transfer key and spoof hitachi as MS28. I got it all going last night =] .

Thank you !

For all the help
