Replacing One Benq With Another
« on: April 05, 2009, 09:58:00 PM »

Ok so I just ordered a replacement benq drive for my 360 because
the old drive was acting up, the drive tray will close on its own.

The current drive is flashed with ixtreme 1.51 and I have that and the
drives original firmware backed up on my pc.

So I wanted to make sure my method below is
the correct way to go about this - I do plan to take this machine
on live.

I was going to dump the new drives firmware with iprep (thats what
I flashed the existing drive with), boot into windows and
replace the dvd key in the new drives hacked firmware
(made with the dben 1234567 12345 command) with the dvd key
from the original drives firmware.
Then boot back into dos, and flash the new drive with the hacked firmware
which now contains the old drives dvd key.

Do I need to put anymore information besides the dvd key from the old drives
firmware into the new drives firmware ? Or is the dvd key all I need ?

Thanks

Dump your current drives hacked firmware. Flash it directly to the replacement.

Thats it!

So I dont really need to dump the new drives firmware at all ? I dont need any info
from the new drives firmware ?

Since you already have a copy of the hacked firmware yes.

Ok cool, I was under the impression that I had to use firmware
specifically from the new drive + dvd key from old drive.
Thanks!

Only on Hitachi drives would you care what firmware was already on it.
