I honestly believe that making this topic might resolve this faster than me doing even more research and trials. I have spent hours trying to flash this damn drive. This is exactly what i have done, whats happenings, and what ive tried.

I have a via 6421a chipset, or i believe thats what its called.
I have an xbox 360 with a samsung drive, ms28 firmware

What i first did was use jungle flasher to get my original firmware. I have this backed up. I then tried using jungle flasher to flash my drive, I pulled out the dvd drive approximately half way, tried flashing but it failed on like sector 3 or something. I then pushed the dvd drive in a little farther, i got approximately a little more progress on the flash. Then when i pushed it in just a tad more, i was getting even farther on the flash then all of a sudden my xbox turned off. I then turned it back on and hell happened.

Now everytime i turn my xbox on while im in windows, my computer simply lags, and whenever i click something, it freezes and i have to wait a minute before i can do anything. Also, when i do take the time jungle flasher didnt recognize my drive anymore, i dont know why.

If you know how to fix this problem that would be amazing? other than that, i moved on to the following.

Because now i cant use a windows gui, i decided to go with dos. I have downloaded mtkflash, and i have made a bootable drive with iprep. I put the 1.51 firmware i made with jungle flasher into my bootable usb and erased the other firmware it put in there. I loaded mtkflash in the usb and the mtkflash.typ file. I am 80% i am using the correct mtkflash.exe, as it is recognizing my via chipset when i try flashing.

The next process i use is as follows:

1. turn off xbox and pc
2. turn on pc
3. connect 360 to pc via sata cable
4. turn 360 on
5. type 'mtkflash w /sata /m samcfw.bin
6. i then see the menu with 3 options, the first two dealing with IDE's, and 3rd relating to my VIA chipset
7. I turn my xbox off at this moment
8. I then press 3
9. I count to 10
10. I turn the xbox on
11. then nothing

at this point its stcuk at status = 00, should =70

I have researched for hours on how to fix this. I have tried 1/2, 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, and 60 second intervals. I have tried unplugging all other sata cables. I have tried disabling all sata cables. I have tried keeping a dvd in one of my drives and disabling all but that drive and doing the mtkflash process. I have tried so many things, and i have looked at so many different varaints and nothing is working.

If anybody can help, i thank you so much. If you have any questions that might help me, please ask them.

Redo the usb w/ iprep 8.8 and dont delete anything off the usb afterwards.

-make a backup folder on your usb stick, make a folder inside that called 1234567, make another folder inside that caled 12345, place your SamOFW.bin and SamCFW  file in there.

-Also put those filesin root of usb just in case.

-fSam 1234567 12345

-boot up pc to iprep and follow instructions-do ten sec trick when it says to.

-choose correct drive number

-press W for write

-file name SamCFW.bin



-enter for flash

Yoy can use old iprep1v006 and flash that way
there is a textbook tutorial on how to flash properly with this version
and i guess you used sammy unlock to do your drive in jungleflasher

thanks man. i got it flashed. i couldnt use the 10 second trick, more like 1/2 second trick. lol. tried a lot of variations to get that status 70. but thank you.

Why did you open the Sammy drive halfway? Surely you only need to do that with a Liteon drive?

Cause thats what noobs do, they make mistakes. LOL. I think this guy is off too happy modded xbox360 land.
