Trouble Putting Orig Flash On Ts-h943
« on: February 03, 2020, 04:15:00 PM »

I had flashed drives for friends a while back before the first wave of bans and now one of them has the 3 red light problem and wants to get the system repaired by microsoft.

Trouble is I can't get the drive to start a flash to put the orig.bin on the drive.

I am using a different computer now with SATA on board.  Motherboard is an ASUS M3N78-EM with 5 SATA ports.
I am using a floppy with mtkflash using bat file samorig.bat
I am powering it with PC power through a Xecuter connectivity kit (the one with the mode B switch and the eject button)

I thought i remembered something about powering down the drive for 10-12 seconds and then repowering it again to get it to start the flash.  I have tried this and it still isn't flashing.

The flash software shows the port that it is detecting it on and then just sits.
I tried using the third SATA port since the HDD and DVD-RW drives are using the first two.  I even tried unplugging the first two drives just in case it was one of those it was detecting.  It wasn't.  It still showed the same port.

Can someone tell me the easiest way to get the orig.bin file back on the drive?

Not all on board SATA works for flashing, Get a Via card and you should be good to go.

Just a note. I have send back 3 RROD's with the drive flashed and even swapped and they sent me replacement units without any issues. You might want to try that. Worst case is they will send it back.

If the system is past the warrenty it may make sence to buy an arcade for $199 because you will probably get a Jasper and then you don't shell out $100 plus bucks to repair.

Is this the best "help" I can get from people is to try a VIA card? Come on, I know I had this prob before when I flashed the drives a couple of years ago and that WAS using a VIA card.

Someone who was familiar with the flashing software and Toshiba-Samsung drives from then help me out here.
