Lite-on Drive Not Powering, Doesn't Eject
« on: March 31, 2009, 01:49:00 PM »

I messed up the soldering area while trying to fix the R707 point and now it doesn't seem to power up (wouldn't eject when CK3 eject button is pressed)

I'm sure this is bricked and me trying to do any thing to fix it will only make it worse so is there any body out there that can offer me a repair service to retrieve the key from the drive. I live in London, UK, so anybody near that area I'm willing to come down and drop the drive off or if further I can post it.

I had the same problem.
I called MS and asked what 2 do.
They told me to send it in for repair.
Repair cost 50$ and the shipping cost 50$.
What they did was replacing the motherboard and the dvd with a new one.
This time I got a BenQ dvd   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Did you only mess with the soldering or did you click on the "liteon erase" in Jungleflasher?
If the drive has been erased it is in vendor mode and will appear to be dead and won't eject, it is not bricked it is just needing firmware flashed back onto it.

I have never soldered a liteon drive, all you have to do is the short the R707 point with a tiny screwdriver or a straightened out paper clip or similar, it works every time, soldering is not needed.
