Bricked Samsung M28
« on: March 21, 2009, 12:32:00 AM »

Hi guys, here's my problem:

I flash the samsung drive with jungleflasher, but I guess it wasn't a success , I did get the orig.bin and the key.bin from the drive, but now when I turn on the xbox connected to the pc (VIA vt6421a PCI) the pc freeze, so I cant use jungleflasher anymore, also I tried the DOSFLASH but it says "No Identify Possible" and it freeze .. then I tried the MTKFLASH and "No device attach"...

One curious thing is that every time I turn on the xbox, the power light start blinking and is all the xbox does, any ideas??

does the L-O-eras work here?.. or theres a similar way for samsung drives?

You would be best to uninstall the via driver. (it will auto reinstall when you reboot so you have to find it in system32 and really delete it)

Then you can use dosflash32 and erase , read , write whatever you want. No more freeze.

L-o-erase wont be helpfull. Its a Lite-on tool.

these drives can be finnicky when turning them on while connected to the via cards. what i do is power on the pc then one second later, power on the xbox.  i have an m28 drive i flashed about a week ago that went very smoothly for me. if you are still having probs you can pm me if you want.

I just got done flashing with jungleflasher. Are you leaving the tray half open? and then unlocking it via jungle flasher?
Once I updated my drivers from viaarena and powered up the drive with the tray half open, it worked flawlessly.

hu guys, now I could get to the point in dosflash where it ask "Do you want to resend the command until the drive responds (Y/N)?" and after press Y the status change to 0x80 and 0x00 and then 0x080 and so on, that is all it does so I press "esc" and try to write but it says "chipset unknown"... any more ideas, I tried turn on the xbox after the pc, but jungleflasher did not detect the drive the PC didn't freeze.

at the point where you are asked to resend, you need the "bad flash method" to proceed...

power off the drive, enter y for yes, wait for 0.5-10 second and power the drive back on. after the drive is powered on, the status will be correct and dosflash will let you continue.

Oh no not E311 !!!!

Thats nothing, just the checksum of the firmware data. It really doesn't mean anything.

Good job

Unlucky M8...Flash went wel and its just a coincidence that u have 3rlod. Now off to do the xclamp fix.

100% not related to your flash m8...one thing tho, just make sure neither of the cables have come of the mobo..happened to me once and had me stumped for a bit.

BTW  u could just try overheating it to get rid of the 3rlod for now just to check if everything ok.  disconnect fan   @ back. place summat over the top and power  it on ...it`ll still have the 3rlod, but  give it 5-10 mins and it will change to 2rlod. At this point turn off console and leve for a while to cool. and reboot...It should be good to go ((for a short while anyway) but your gonna have to do xclamp fix eventually.

Kipps
