More Effective Then Flashing
« on: March 19, 2009, 08:56:00 PM »

Hello everyone,

This may be my first post here but I hope you find it useful.
I have been reading a lot about flashing the dvd drive to replace it, really there is a much better way that won't cause headaches.

As everyone who is reading this is probably aware of each drive is keyed to each xbox.  The key for the drive is stored on the main board of the dvd drive aka the logic board. I have had out of 30 xbox's I fixed a 100% success rate with simply swapping the logic board out of the old drive and putting in the new one.

This is much easier and takes 10 minutes to do. This is also an xbox "legal" fix, as in it won't get you banned since you are technically not reverse engineering any of they're hardware and coding. You may need to reattach the wires if your working with the benQ drive but as long as you have them in the right spot and firmly connected everything should work out very well.

Happy gaming all.

Wow, what a breakthrough  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleeping.gif)

Ya, almost everyone here already knows this.

Also flashing a identical replacement drive with stock firmware has no risk of being banned.

Are you kidding me? I have been having some problems working a couple drives, and I cam in here thinking you may have actually hit on something that was a new technology or development. Not that you were going to make a statement about facts.

THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS.

I am probably the most N00bish member of this whole forum, and I could have told you that. I do however thank you for digging so deep into your chest of knowledge so that you might illuminate the path to Modding Zen. If you have the spare time, please let us know any other inane and useless information. Perhaps something about how eating Cheerios lowers your cholesterol, thus relieving stress, and making you more quick witted and capable of identifying modding bottlenecks, so as to be more effective. Henceforth, Cheerios make you a Modding Uber Genius.

Thanks for wasting my already limited time, and in the process making me so mad that I just wasted another 2 minutes typing this pointless crap out.
