Hitachi Gdr-3120l And Via 6421 Sata Card
« Reply #15 on: March 21, 2009, 09:14:00 AM »

Hmmm. I bought a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16816132009

I use that to mod all of my drives and have not had an issue yet. I have modded every drive but lite-on and several times. I have had no issues I couldn't fix(couldn't run unlock 79 cmd unless in safe mod.)

EDIT: Only thing I can say is I have used iprep or FWTB 4.8 to do all my mods. I have not tried with jungle flasher. I take the "if it ain't broke don't fix it approach". No issues using FWTB 4.8

Does your card sho up in device manager? Not with the yellow exclamation but fully enabled?
Driver version is 6.0.6000.6161 Don't ask me where these came from I simply couldn't tell you. Sufficed to say they work yet I don't have VIAMRAID.SYS (this is probably more to do with me having Vista and not XP on this setup though)
I think PortIO was installed then VIA re-enabled. I can effectively now use PortIO for every other drive... but then I switch to Win API drivers for Hitachi.

Might be of help to you.... might not. Hope so.

Card does show up in device manager fully enabled no exclamation mark
Driver is 5.1.2600.540
Im going to try tomorrow hopefully with a different pc with clean install of windows
If that doesnt work ill even try vista
What version of vista are you using

Forgive me for my noobiness Legacy22X
But what is FWTB 4.8
Is it short name for a program
If so what progieis it

Its Firmware Toolbox 4.8
now youre VIA Raid.file is in your C;/windows/system32/Drivers folder
its a file called viaraid.sys file scroll down and you will find it
doesnt matter if your running vista or xp it will be there because when you first installed the card thats  the driver for this
so just follow the guide in the appendix in the jungleflasher 1.5.1 beta tutorial on how to remove this

This is the key...But on vista you have to do it at the right time...

Once you have hooked it up to your pc and got it into mode-b, I READ the FW with WIN API mode! That is the only one that works when reading it on the via sata card and on vista. To do this i leave the VIA sata drivers INSTALLED as well as the portIO drivers!! Once its read and you have merged it with the 1.51 to generate your new hacked FW to be flashed.....I power down JF, now i go and un-install the VIA drivers. In vista it's called vsmraid.sys and its located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers. Now to stop it re-installing itself after a pc restart navigate to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository and delete the 2 folders called vsmraid.inf_5bb214f7, and vsmraid.inf_99e8d6e4. The numbers on the end seem to vary from machine to machine so don't be worried if yours are different. In vista to delete them you will need to "take ownership" of the folders in order to delete/move them. Google folder ownership to figure out how. Once deleted/moved (i recommend just moving them to dekstop or something so you can install them again if you have too), restart the pc, and once its booted in device manager the via card should show with the yellow question mark thingo meaning it has no driver which it good. Now run jungle flasher again, put the drive in mode-b again, go to the firm tool 32 tab and in the target load the hacked fw you generated earlier. Now go to the Hitatchi tab and this time select the USE PORT IO method! That's the crucial part. With the driver un-installed use the portIO method and then flash the hacked fw on as normal. Will work perfect. Thats how to do it successfully on a VISTA machine! Not in great detail but if you know what your doing it will be piss...

use the win api option to read WITH via card drivers installed.....
use the portIO method with the via card drivers REMOVED to write...

I'm just posting issues i had and i seem to be having the same issues everyone else here is having and doing what i said fixed it perfectly and it now works first time every time.

Sorry for the double post but i deleted those 2 folders i mentioned in my last post, is there any chance someone can zip there's up and post them somewhere? I REALLY need them, i think they are the best to use but i deleted mine and cannot find them sad.gif that vsmraid.sys seems to always work for me but now i re-installed it its using viamrad.sys which scares me. It worked perfectly fine before so i don't wanna mess with shit!

Please osmeone upload them somewhere?

Thanks!
