Strange Or Not

Hey,

I have 2 360s , one is fine never flashed and will stay that way, the other i was given for spares, mint condition just has the " please put this disk into a 360 " so basically its a dvd player but i got it for free so no worries.

Well i havent really messed about with the 360s much so i just thought i would as i am going to learn how to flash 360s, so with the free 360 having a hitachi 47dj drive in it i made a slax disk to get it into mode b( reason=just wanted to see if my computer chipset was good to do this, and it was) So i just thought i would see if i could dump the firmware of the drive, i used FWToolbox and it worked i got a key,now i dont know if this is usual or not,my understanding was you couldnt, so i saved the dump in 10 locations not just on my machine haha. i then tried to flash it with FWToolbox but it wouldnt do it ,just kept saying couldnt write to 360 make sure drive is visible in windows"  which it was,had i drive letter, could see the film disk shown in COMPUTER, and i also got the dump.

So i then tried and succeded to flash it with C4EVA_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_4_Stealth.
it went through all the banks and flashed the drive i even checked on the "Hacking the  Xbox 360 for noobs"  tutorial book and my flash looked exectly the same as the one they show using C4EVA method.

It saved some files to a folder these are: 47_23.bin,  47_23S.bin,  Key.bin,  Was_bin
all the bin files are 256 EXECEPT the Key bin file which was only 1 kb. i am assuming this is wrong and also should there be a Now_bin file too.
anyway

Put the 360 back together and it still says "put the game disk into a 360"

but the drive still plays films and stuff

What exactly did i do here, is this 360 stuffed or is it still possible to do something with it.
Thanks

PS. have ordered a willem prog ans tsop adapter to have a learn at too

Yeah i think you might be missing the Key for the drive from the results you are getting. Possibly it had a bad flash before and the key was not spoofed correclty or not spoofed at all.

ITs pretty much stuffed , unless you can retrive the key form the mainboard , which i have no idea about doing.

First you flashed it with VERY old hacked firmware using a VERY old method.

Basically the drive does not contain the proper drive key for that console. You can flash it all you want but without the proper drive key it will never be anything but a DVD player.

Sure is great for a spare drive incase you other one breaks down ,just inject the key from your current drive into it for a handy spare.
