Hey, ive been trying to flash my dvd rom for a while now and i cant figure it out. I have a decent understanding about computers and the whole process but i cant get my computer to recognize my dvd rom.

first off i have an ASUS P5K Deluxe and im trying to flash a benq model no. VAD6038

i have everything connected properly and when i boot my computer with slax 2.1 i get:
Fatal Error
looking for data directory (searching for livecd.sgm file)
Fatal error occured - slax data not found, you are maybe using an unsupported boot device (eg. SCSI, or old PCMCIA)

i haven't changed my RAID settings yet because im not to sure how to do it and i still havent done any mtkflash work

Can anyone please help me troubleshoot or give me step by step instructions on how to get my drive detected in windows?????

Ok , make sure the drive is being detected in your Bios firstly. Then try using jungle flasher in windows , you can purchase a connectivity kit which will put the drive in mode B. I have done this and its the easiest way possible.

Why are you using Slax with BenQ?

I think you need to start at the beginning.

Star by looking at the pinned topics and go from there.

Download the newest Jungle Flasher and read the tutorial here.

If you can boot off of usb then use iPrep, it is the easiest way to do benqs, sammy's or liteon drives. It is idiot proof. I have done and re-done many benqs using iPrep.

Don't bother using Jungleflasher, that software is the buggiest software I have ever used in my life.

I agree but it is better than trying to flash a BenQ using the Hitachi method. lol
