Hitachi Freeze At Power-on With Via Drivers
« on: March 16, 2009, 11:59:00 AM »

Ok, so I re did all the samsungs and benqs first, went through a total of six and figured i would have issues with mine so I saved it last. I have a Hitachi 0079fl, flashed with ix1.4 the problem now is when i power the drive on it freezes the computer until I turn it the drive off. If I use just the PortIO drivers then I get nothing, it doesn't discover anything. Someone please help, I know flashing a Hitachi with a VIA card isnt impossible. oh also now Slax wont put it in mode b now.

Hi!

I had just successfully flashed my 79 yesterday. My secret: remove the VIA card.
I ended up using the onboard ICH9 with no problems whatsoever. Don't forget to set the onboard ICH9 legacy mode to enable, it MAKES a difference!

The Via card is my only way of flashing.

I had the same problem... have you tried booting up your windows then once into windows switching your 360 on...? and if your flashing a 0079fl i advise you to use JF so much easier... i had problems flashing my 0079fl took me 2 days to do it but i used JF in the end... tried with FWT 4.8 no luck... tried another program no luck and thought might as well try with JF but my pc kept crashing when the 360 was on and i switched it on and booted the computer... best to boot the computer then switch the 360 on..... Hope this helps... any probs feel free to pm me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Use Slax to put your drive into mode b instead of JF.
If you already have a hacked fw on your drive:
turn on your xbox
eject your dvd-rom
unplug the power from the xbox so the drive stays open
plug your xbox back in and turn on the xbox
your Hitachi is now in mode b. Start up your computer with the dvd-rom connected.

Maybe try uninstalling the via drivers and just install the portIO thing. I just did my Hitachi and I'm pretty sure I didn't install the via drivers
