Hi ToBbErT,
Yes, I did. When selecting Restore Firmware and clicking Restore to Stock the Dumping flash..... fails, I tried both transfer methods.
Will try again tonight.
This might sound dumb at first - but I had similar flashing problems with my Hitachi 47. Did you 'Query' the drive prior to beginning *any* of the flashing process - restore or re-flash? That seemed to be the 'magic' solution to my issues.
To be a bit more specific:
*Note* Even though I manually installed PortIO - and could see my drive listed in that section of JF - I couldn't get it to work for some reason. Since I'm using Windows Vista, I believe there may be an issue with it - or JF - with respect to compatibility. Also, for me anyway, JF MUST be ran in compatibility mode for XP SP2 and opened by right-clicking and selecting 'Run as Admin...'. Of course, this is for Vista users only.
1. I put my drive in modeb *prior* to using JF. i.e.- Windows recognized and installed the drive prior to starting JF.
2. Once I started JF, I could see that it recognized my drive on the Hitachi tab...in both the PortIO and Win API sections (top left corner & top right corner respectively).
3. Since I saw my drive listed, I began the process of restoring and re-flashing (*after* I saved my drive's key on one of the other tabs first - just being safe). However, the restore process failed. I tried it a couple different times after rebooting my PC, JF, etc. but the same thing kept happening.
4. Finally, I decided to see if my drive would even respond to JF - which I figured it would since I was able to get my key earlier. On the Hitachi tab, just under the 'Send ModeB' button, or whatever it's called, I clicked the 'Open' and 'Close' buttons to see if my drive would respond. As expected, it did.
5. I went back to the JF PDF tutorial and happened to notice a screenshot with the query information in the bottom window - a bunch of jumbled numbers followed by the drive's model number. I started to think that maybe the drive had to be formally queried by JF in order for everything to work properly. I probably missed that step earlier or something, I thought.
6. So - I hit the 'Query' button in the Win API section (under the drive name drop-down in the top right corner) - the drive queried - I began the restore process and IT WORKED!
7. I re-flashed the new 1.51 f/w immediately after the restore and IT WORKED!
Viola! Tada! Hallelujah!
Since that time, the drive has worked perfectly with every game...including the new ones with the 3rd wave. The drive is unbelievably loud though - due to the change from the 8x speed I used with 1.4 to the hard-coded 12x speed with 1.51. No worries though...I'm just gonna give in and buy a Benq anyway. I've heard a lot of good things about those drives.
Very detailed, I know...but I hope it helps in some small way.
Best of luck!
