I don't have a LiteOn but I'll add my opinion. Feel free to disagree since I have no experience with LiteOn's... (IMG:

1. It's probably best if you eliminate any risk of making a mistake regarding ModeB by just ejecting the drive, leaving the drive *open*, pull the power plug from the wall, plug it back in and move on. I suppose it's possible that you might be allowing the door to close too far which could cause an issue. Admittedly, this is just a guess.
2. I, too, use Vista (Home Premium though) and got the same exact error message from JF *every time* I opened it. No worries though...as long as you know *for certain* that the drive is in ModeB ahead of time.
3. JF worked much better for me when I made 2 adjustments: ~changed it's properties (right-click JF's .exe) and changed it to work in compatibility mode for XP SP2 - and - ~started JF by right-clicking the .exe and selecting 'Run as Admin...'. It seemed to work much better after doing so.
From there, since I don't have any experience with LiteOn drive, I can't offer any additional info. Hopefully, something I mentioned above will provide a little assistance.
If not, well, I tried. (IMG:

Good luck!
