Hitachi Ix-1.51 Not Working?
« on: March 07, 2009, 08:51:00 PM »

I recently flashed my IX1.5 LiteOn to an updated 1.51 and it plays my HAWX backup perfectly, however my friend's Hitachi which i just flashed w/ 1.51 that i got from Xbins won't play it. I have tried using a backup of Saint's Row 2 in that drive and it works fine, so do all my originals. Does anyone know if something is wrong w/ the xbins Hitachi 1.51? After flashing, it verified correctly and said my firmware type was iXtreme1.51 for a Hitachi 47, which is correct.

Does anyone else have this problem or a solution to this problem?

Thanks..

Well i got a launch Hitachi Takashi and its never missed a beat.

On topic, I've flashed a 47, 78 and 79 hitachi in the past day and all three consoles play HAWX no worries. Currently playing it on LIVE as we speak actually on a 47.

What happens when it doesnt work, does it give a white screen like it did before on 1.5 or under firmwares?

I'd restore to original firmware in JF, then flash again, might just have been a bad flash.

Yes, this is a launch hitachi as well.

Here's my procedure (all using JungleFlasher)

Dump Firmware, save as HitOFW
Open up orig47 as target and use that to restore drive to stock
After restore, open HitOFW as source, open ix151-47 as target and spoof source to target, save this file - just in case
Hit flash iXtreme button
All flashes ok, it says write verified ok, Hitachi 47 IX 1.51 etc....

However, when I dump this firmware and load it up, it says it is stock.... I know it isn't stock, because I can still play my Saints Row 2 backup, but I can't play my HAWX backup - Its not a bad backup, it works perfectly on my LiteOn

And when i say it isn't working I mean that it spins the disc for a while, then instead of launching the game or giving me an option to "Play Game", it just has the option to open my tray, like there is no disc at all..

Should i try flashing using a different method like 360 toolbox or something? JungleFlasher seems to be working fine but then once I test my drive it doesn't work...

Listen, I'm an amateur here so you could very well know a heck of a lot more than me.  However, I just got done flashing my Hitachi 47 using J. Flasher and it worked well.  However, the steps you mentioned are a bit different than the ones I followed.

I followed the steps listed in the J. Flasher Beta PDF and they make no mention of using a 'spoof' option when flashing a Hitachi 47.  As a matter of fact, the only selections I made in the 'Flashing Options' section were 'Restore Firmware' and 'Flash iXtreme'.  The 'Flash Spoof Data' wasn't even mentioned in the Hitachi tutorial as far as I could see.

Hitachi's BLOW.

thats really helpful.............

Did you remember and restore his hitachi to its original firmware? upgrading the firmware can have un predicitable results on the hitachis and is generally not recommeneded.

anyway I didnt use jungleflasher between its bugs and windows constantly crashing its not worth the effort.

I used firmware toolbox 4.8 to get 1.51 on my hitachi and all is working well.

Get your hitachi into mode b, whatever method you prefer.

1. tools direct drive dump.

Save the original bin in a safe place and say yes to the datacheck.

2. in the box where it shows the drive key copy this.

3.  file open ------> select ix1.51

4. enter the copied key into the new firmware ( not 100% certain if this is necessary but I done it anyway )

5. tools direct drive flash ( patch ).

6. read drive and detect differences/

7. start flashing.

8. your good to go.

good luck

It's the most help available honestly.
Hitachi's are the #1 replaced/spoofed drive, because it may play originals after flashing, a backup
disk is a another deal, the lasers are too weak to read even verbatims in my experience.

75% of the Hitachi's I flash get replaced.

Nice tutorial!  Worth bearing in mind for 78/79 drives that there are four firmwares to choose from.  If "detect differences" finds pages and pages of differences, try a different firmware.  If on the other hand it comes up with the dozen or so it usually finds, you should be fine.

Open tray usualy means you need a bumper on your laser carage, its actually more to do with your burner than your media or drive.
when hitachis try to read a disc they dont spin out far enough to find the first bit of data on the disc sad.gif  Therefore you need to glue someting (I find the rubber foot off a wii is just the right size about 2 or 3 mm biggrin.gif ) to the white bit on your laser carrage that connects to a small switch (also white). This makes your laser stay a bit further out and so it catches the first bit of data when it spins up.

Ok thanks for the info - it seems that most people think the drive just isn't too great...

But what made me think in the first place that it was my firmware was the fact that it still loaded a "wave 2" backup with no problems, it just wouldn't load a "wave 3" (HAWX). I may try flashing again by following the PDF tutorial exactly step-by-step, or somehow using FW toolbox or something like that.

If I can't get it to work that way, I'll assume that it's the laser and try the fix that flash360 mentioned, or maybe just advise him to get a new xbox, since he says his has been acting up lately anyways.

Crazygoldfish, finally got the balls to try this out...opened orig firmware..clicked on direct drive flash (restore) then saw box to Use Classic Mode (clicked this since my drive is a 47). Clicked on read difference...got message saying image no different than that on drive. I know this is not the case since I've been playing backups for months. And yes I did click on original backup of firmware...then brought me to screen where it says "Choose Program to Invoke" Internal flasher does not support usb to sata...then under drop down it lists 45.exe, 46.exe, 47.exe...I have 360USB I'm using so don't know what to do here. Oh and btw, if I did not click on "Use Classic Mode" it told me to insert movie dvd...

Can you guide me here?

Update...tried inserting original xbox360 game into drive, waited 20 secs then clicked read difference...got error: could not read drive.
