Okay update from last post
I have flashed 2 benQ's one with iprep and one with jungleflasher
Both easy to do
but either the ix15Def file from xbins was corrupt or it didnt transfer properly
I downloaded again off 360Mods the def update and it was a bigger file but that works a treat loads in benQ 1.51 file no worries in iprep1v006
Thanks again

So, the "fully stealth" check was removed? How to make sure that you have a fully stealth backup? Only if programs such as ABGX 0.9.4 confirms your backup consistency with the ONLINE database? How about OFFLINE consistency, still valid?

I am confused now  uhh.gif    blink.gif    dry.gif    sleep.gif

They had to remove it to support future waves. In earlier firmwares no changes to the video partition were expected but now that the dash updates are inside it might change more often. So the only solution is to take out that check and let abgx360 do this job. abgx360 will soon support (or know about) wave3 so it can even report "known valid video partition" in offline mode.

To figure out if its the correct video partition you will have to do an online check. That is why "patched for Ixtreme 1.5" disks with wave3 changed to wave2 are not a good idea, they will not be detectable in offline mode.

This is not really a loss of security, even before the DMI and SS were not checked for validity, no its the same for the PFI. The check just moved from the firmware, were it doesn't belong, to the verification software. People should have learned by now to always do an online check using abgx360 since the firmware has no way of knowing if the correct stealth files are used.

just finished updating my liteon with ix1.51, this time i was i able to erase my drive with jungle flasher without it freezing, but it failed the writing process

Thats because your pc is freezing and unfeezing itself every few seconds. When you move your mouse, you will see that it stops and then goes on again. Just flash it using DOS and you should be okay.

Just finished flashing my 79 Hitachi. Did a restore to original firmware through toolbox 4.8
Flashing with jungleflasher is so much nicer than having to use Slax and 79 unlocker through WMP.
Very nice program and very professional execution of everything!
Using Intel ICH9R controller btw. Absolutely no problems what so ever.

I was Wondering if i would still need to buy the connectivity kit with the probe in order to obtain the dvd key and flash the drive or if this is able to obtain it over sata.

oh and my drive is unflashed.

Jungleflasher still not really liking my Via card I think....

Just updated my Hitachi59, but had a number of small glitches.

First, sending mode B worked, but once the drive was powered on, I got a stuck egg timer and a message like "checking for hardward updates". I had to end task on Jungleflasher, and now when I start Jungleflasher, the modeB button is greyed out on my selected sata port...it lights up if I change port, but goes back to grey when back on the correct port. This is despite the drive being reset (so its not already in mode cool.gif. I had to resolve this by using the 3rd party modeb utility which worked fine.

Next problem I had was after flashing all the banks, it failed verifty on sector 10. I then ran restore, which worked, power cycled the drive and re-modeb'd it. Got the same failure, but this time, it also failed on restore.

I then had to  go back to the Ixtreme 1.41 package and run the restore from there, which worked, then I tried for a 3rd time in Jungleflasher to write to my drive, and this time succesful.

Im always a little nervous with Hitachi's, and this didnt do much for my stress levels !

I also tried a samsung and a lite-one using dosflash and firmtool on 1.51, and they worked fine. I'll do my other benq shortly, but I dont envisage any problems.

Yes you will still need the connectivity kit to retrieve the key.Once your drive has been flashed you can obtain your key trough sata.

Why did you restore to original firmware with toolbox 4.8? I thought this wasn't necessary with Jungleflasher? And how did you get you Hitachi to modeb and unlocked if you used the toolbox before Jungleflasher?

I am probably going to flash my 79 from 1.4 to 1.51 soon, but just don't want to screw anything up so that's why I am asking smile.gif

Do you have to go to the original firmware first (except Lite-On) and then update? Or is it possible to update directly?
Also, I want to flash my hitachi drive. How do I know which firmware I need?:

ix151-79-4d20

What does "4d20" for example means?
