Updating Firmware
« on: March 03, 2009, 05:36:00 AM »

Hi,

I have recently done a BENQ to 1.41 and Liteon to 1.5, how do I go about updating them to 1.6?

I used Iprep 101 and booted from a usb pen and used MTK vendor to do the BENQ and I used Jungleflash to read the Liteon but DOSFLASH to erase and write the firmware.

I found DOSFLASH pretty straight forward to use so correct me if I am wrong but could I just use DOSFLASH on both drives and erase then write the new 1.6 firmware?

I still have the original keys for the Liteon but I don't have them for the BENQ.

I've never done an update before so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks,

1.6 hasnt been released yet..........And why is that benq running on 1.41? It should be 1.5.

It was because the BENQ is used offline and it's dead easy using Iprep instead of the CK3 I used for the Liteon.

I'll wait nearer the time until 1.6 is actually released and see where I go from there.

At least now that I have two firmware types I can see if any of them will fail when the new security is in full swing.

Cheers,

If your dvd rom is still original (not flashed) you need a connectivity kit and a spear/probe to read the key.If you allready flashed your dvd rom to 1.5 (wich you have) you will only need a sata connection to read, erase, and write. And of course you will need a power source biggrin.gif
