Tired Of Opening Your Pc When Flashing?

Dude that's awesome! My friend has the exact same case and instead of having one of those panels in place, he has a panel for his Fata1ity sound card there.

I'm so definitely getting one of these!   biggrin.gif

This is pure genius! My tower is on my computer desk which is not that big at all. It's a real pain to open the PC because I end up having to move my speakers, mouse, and all that good stuff. My case isn't that big, but the available 4-pin molex that I use to connect my CK3 is very short. Also, my VIA card is in the back with the other PCI slots. Would these cables connect correctly to the SATA panel in the front to extend to my VIA card and free 4-pin molex coming off my PSU? Thanks in advance.

4-pin Male/Female Molex

SATA Male/Female

EDIT: Did some research and found that a regular M/F SATA won't work. I guess I need an actual extension cable. What about the 4-pin molex? Can I just use a regular M/F or is there a specific extension I need to get like with the SATA cable?

I believe the panel is just connected to the PSU's 4-pin molex. The front of the panel where the CK3 can be connected to is female. That means the other end (inside of the mod panel) is male, which can be connected to the female 4-pin on the PSU.

Yup you are right. Nothing else is needed. The CK3 just slides right on and actually holds it pretty snug so there shouldnt be any worry of it slipping off during mid flash or anything. That would suck. LOL

Of course, if your PC sits on the floor in the middle of a living room or something and you have a fat dog that is running around I suppose it could get hit off lol.

You shouldnt need an extension for the power. It comes with id say a 1 foot cable (both sata and power) on the back of the panel. The 1' sata wasnt long enough to reach my PCI via card since its at the bottom of the tower and my panel is at the top...but most users will have plenty of power connectors at that location since it has the same molex connectors that a DVD drive or CD rom or anything else you would usually put in there.

Yes, the cable I picked up was called a sata extension cable. Maybe they have some little adapters out there that lets you stick 2 cables together I'm not sure, but I went the extension route.

I will edit my first post to include the link to the extension that I got so people can use it as a reference.

Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and ordered the panel along with a SATA extension cable (same one you have) just to be sure because my VIA card is also at the very end of my case. I also got a molex extension as well because for some reason, the 4-pin molex coming off my PSU is only about 2-inches long.

My PC only has one 3.5" bay and it's being occupied by a media card reader. I suppose I could just remove it since I don't even use it.

That part about the USB extension lead is actually a badass idea. LOL

I was on IRC tonight talking it over, and am thinking of making an actual CK3 PC mod, which would be a custom faceplate on the front and the ck3 would be completely inside the computer hidden. The eject buttons and modeb buttons I will solder leads onto and make custom buttons on the front panel of my PC smile.gif

Its kinda a pointless mod, but arent all mods? Basically an internal CK3 that you will never see, and you just plug your xbox drive into the front of the pc and bam done smile.gif

Thanks for the USB idea tho!

biggrin.gif Just make sure you key the USB port by bending the metal frame and match it with the USB power lead so you dont accidently fry your other USB devices with 12v lol

Internal CK sounds sweet, cant wait to see it.
