Possible To Compare Hacked And Original Firmware?
« on: February 21, 2009, 05:51:00 PM »

Hello all, here is my dilemma.  I have a flashed 360 with a Hitachi drive.  I am starting to get disc read errors lately.  My brother has an extra Samsung drive so I was going to spoof it to work.  My problem is that I have the original on my PC but since I have flashed a few drives I forgot to label which one is my Hitachi.  I was wondering if it would be possible to dump the firmware from my current drive and compare it with the original bin files I have to find its match.  I am still a little unclear about the spoofing process, I just want to make sure I am starting with the correct files.  Any help would me greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

If you use jungleflasher, you should be able to mode-b your hitachi drive aswell as read.  Then check the firmtool tab for the drive key.  Then open the other firmware files you have, to see if any match the key on your hitachi drive.

You could probably even read the current hitachi firmware, spoof that into ix1.5_samsung.bin then write that to your samsung drive.

Hmm, I wonder if I could spoof to iXtreme using my current hacked firmware, that would save me the time of reflashing.  I am sure someone has at least tried that before.  I appreciate the help, any other feedback on spoofing with hacked firmware would  be appreciated, thanks again.

Anyone else have any ideas on this?  I am scouring my PC to try and distinguish when i would have flashed my current 360, to try and narrow down my .bin files.
