V79 Modeb Issues
« on: February 16, 2009, 07:26:00 PM »

Ok well heres my situation.

I've tried like every method of getting my v79FL into modeb but i have had no luck.

What happens when i try the slax disk is i start my comp with xbox off and the drive connected to the computer. once slax starts to load i turn on the xbox and i never get spinning disk message. I've tried this a good 20-30 times.

Iv also tried the method with the modeb program in windows. my port is 7000 (checked in iprep and msinfo32) so i type
"modeb 7000"
and all i get is ..........

I've turned on and off my drive but no success. I do notice that when i turn my drive on my computer will lag/freeze for a few seconds so im guessing that it knows something is being connected.

I just cant figure out whats going on here. I've modded a good 15 boxes of all different drives but this one is being a pain.

Just a little update i plan on trying it on another computer but in the meantime any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure this drive has never been flashed or it is not spoofed as another drive.  That will cause slax not to detect it and not put it in modeb.  Also you can do as suggested above and try putting it in modeb with jungleflasher.

yea 100% sure this drive has never been flashed. ill try with jungle flasher now but i dabble with it before and no luck but ill try again for sh1ts and giggles

edit:

also when i turn the comp on with the xbox on. It says no disks detected or something along those lines so could my card be bad??

just tired jungle flasher

i click the hitachi tab  change revision to 78/79 and click send mode b on the port that i think its on and it will shows a few dots and after about 10 or 11 it just freezes. This happens whether the drive is on, off, or in teh process of turning on.

it also says no drive detected under the port i am choosing

an exception precessing message thing pops up before i try to load jungle flasher but i hit try again and it works so i dont know if thats a problem.

in my case, i can't flash a hitachi of any version on my via chipset,
but if connected to my xp box, intel chipset, reads and doesn't freeze.

try in another pc WITHOUT VIA.

just a side note i forgot to mentions that on my brothers computer this worked with the exact same pci card just a different 79 drive. unfortunately he is not located close to me so i cant use his comp but i just think its weird that it works on his and not mine.

When I built my computer, I bought a VIA card for flashing. I also installed 64 bit Vista.

When my main box got banned, I tried modding the H79 HDMI console I had.

It would NEVER get into Mode B on my custom computer.

I then tried flashing it on my old Dell with the VIA card, it worked right away.....

If you have 64 bit OS, try that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)!

hi Evilbunny

Not to clear exactly what you have tried so i will have a go at helping

Have you tried the 79unlock program, i have used this many times and never had any trouble.(running xp pro & via 6421)
Tell a lie it doesnt work for me unless the 79unlock folder is located in the root, i got the pc locking when the program wasnt on the root.
i.e C:\79unlock>
I open a command prompt from the 79unlock folder using "send to toy" ( h__p://www.gabrieleponti.com/downloads/sendtotoys.exe) right click and send 79unlock folder to command prompt
79 drive turned off
C\:79unlock>modeb 9400    (9400 i what mine is) press enter dots should tart then turn on 79 drive and "done" should appear

This will put the drive into mode b

All my flashing on this drive is done in windows, if i do go into dos  for other drives via a boot disc i use "ntfs4dos"

good luck   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

im just gonna try it on a different comp if not o well

anyother ideas are still welcome as getting another comp is going to take time.

also has anyone else had any problem like i have.
