since my personal beginning have I yet to determine the reason for the the hack jobs done with lite-ons, even in tutorials they will say hey solder these spots or attach this here and the pictures will look like a bad tit job.  If you have not seen a bad tit job it is horrible.  For the layman it is life, love and the future all in one

do not make it good make it great, please to the powers tht be fix the lite-on problems (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif)

Not flaming at all, but are you sure you are using your equipment correctly?  You have dumped liteons before right?

One of those alternate points should work.  Make sure you are doing everything correctly.  You may want to check your equipment by dumping the key from another liteon, just to be sure.

I've done several Lite-On drives already (close to 20) and I've never seen such hack job as this one.

Next on my list: exchange the chip from the "hammered" Lite-On to a new one (bridged but, hey, I got it for free, and it's working).

Also, yes, the CK3+Probe are working correctly (I've done 3 Lite-On -5 total drives- after I've seen this one and 5 Lite-On -7 total drives- after my 1st CK3 burned out - they can say what ever they want but I did NOT connected it upside down).

Anyway, I've this last resort.. Changing the chips around without trying do dump them, just exchanging it.
I hope I can save the 360 from being "original only". Otherwise I'll have to buy a new 360 (since I sold it without opening it before to see if the previous user had changed something - I'm scr****).

Try to solder a thin wire to the hole adjacent to the R707 hole if you can. After that, wrap the wires around the probe and try to dump again.

Not one to ask why was you soldering any way?

Every 1 I have flashed never needed to solder a thing just used a probe to get the key out.

You obviously didn't read the whole thread, it's not his drive.
Read, then come back to us.

Well, not all things are great.

We have exchanged the drive chip but now it won't even read originals. No, I'm not getting E66 (or any drive error for that matter - just "Eject" when an original/backup is inserted - yes, it's correctly soldered if you ask).

I wish to know, if anyone here have something about the chip design so I can dump it directly from the chip or if there is anything I can do to grab the key and the other files also.

The most weird thing is that even with the new drive (old chip) i can't get a green light on any point (there's no need for that cuz 707 is bridged, but I had to try).

I've tried that already. It was one of the 1st thing I've tried (soldered on the back of the 707)

Hey I just got a Lite from somebody who tried to get the key and they messed something up and it is doing the exact same thing yours was doing. No matter what method I try (probe, Screwdriver, different rx points) I can't get the key and the probe won't light up in the r707 hole. I think the guy put something down in the hole and shorted part of a chip out or something. This really sucks because I was doing it for a guy and I was sure I would be able to figure it out but since it was taking so long I traded him a modded benq falcon for this lite on jasper so he could get going but now I realize it won't be able to be modded. If anybody else has any suggestions please post.

Again, I ask, is there a way to grab the key reading ONLY the chip where the firmware is?

Followup:

We were able to exchange the drive chip to a different drive with a new mobo.
The thing is.
Even now we are unable to grab the KEY for the drive.

I've done other LiteOns already using my CK3 (so it's not the CK3 problem), but this one drive seems to be an impossible task.

I need some help here guys.. Please!!

Is there ANY other way to grab the key? Or I'm stuck with a 360 that plays only original games?

The epoxy gave us a lot of problems as we had to redo some of the tracks. You might notice that I'm bridging the 707. That's because we were tired of trying to use the probe and getting nowhere.
Pictures of the exchanged FW chips.

I've sent an email to Maximus to see if it was possible to me to send the drive so he could grab the key and flash it for me.

The problem? He says it's impossible unless I do what TeamJungle did, a "microsurgery" on the chip to find out where I can get the exact point for reading the firmware.

His email quoted:

I have read the post and it seems you have tried even changing the controller chipset to another drive motherboard (thats a very dificult task, congratulations).

All that I can think is the pin is dead on the controller, so dont matter if you put it on new mainboard you will not be able to get the information.  And there is no other way (currently) to retrieve the key.  (would require you de-cap the chip and do a micro-surgery to read the flash, basically is the same procedure that teamjungle did it).

At this point (thinking on what the user has done with this drive and after the ic-exchange) I would be happy with the drive in working status and just leave it to read originals.

Sorry for not giving you so much hope on this matter.

Hi there.

I'm trying to mod a liteon here with no rate of success. I've done more than 80 360 mods already but this one is an impossible task.
To see what I've been through this one, check out this thread:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...676621&st=0

What I'm looking for is.. It's possible to mod it still?
Since you guys can "fix" stuff, how much would cost me so I could send you the drive (or just the board) to have it flashed? Btw, I'm in Brazil so it would take a while to get the board to you.

So, no luck for me or anyone else that have this problem.. Too bad for us.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
