Lite-on Issue - No Green Light
« on: February 13, 2009, 07:50:00 AM »

I've no clue on what the user did but the drive works fine with originals (the blue wire is connecting the R709 - without it the eject will not work - I've tested without it)

My issue is, I just can't get the CK3 Spear to get a green light to mod the drive and bridging the connection is impossible (I've even tried following the track of R707 to find out where it leads but to no avail.

Any help??

Try where the 707 point comes through on the other side of the board.  May work.

Ok you can use an alternate point on the board in this picture. I labelled it R707 in blue-green colour with an arrow pointing to it. You can also just touch the TxD point with the probe and it will give you the key.

EDIT: Sorry about that I didn't notice that your R707 was destroyed... Woops... Try unscrewing the board and touch the R707 hole on the other side and it should work.

P.S. There doesn't need to be a green light I got my key with the probe not lighting up at all.

About "The other side"..

Don't I need the cables connected so I can get the "half way open tray"?? Also, I've tried the TxD but that didn't help either... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

if you dont know how to solder, why try and brick a drive?  It would of been cheaper for you to send to someone else then completely hack your 360.  Instead of soldering you should of got a solderless solution.

From the post it sounds like he is trying to fix this for someone else.  Even if that is not the case, everyone makes mistakes.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

Nice post antman1 good to know some alternate points.

Use the paperclip method to open it manually. There's always another way...

No need, if the bottom cover is off, just push the plastic bar to the left, easiest way.

That's fugly. Why don't you go ahead and get rid of that solder glob on the voltage regulator.  if it contacts something else on the drive,  the circuit board will go poof.  That's a live power point.

Thanks.. I'll try those points as soon as I can. The epoxy Tx/Rx aren't very clear, 5th = Rx, 6th = Tx?

I got it that way, so, no, it wasn't me. I sux at soldering so I will never be trying (I've tried on PS2 chips and I managed to fry all 4 mobos I tested, so, no, thanks).

Everything is taped using electrical tape, so that will not happen at all. (The moment I opened it i took pictures and added the electrical tape).

Update: No, the alternate point isn't working also..

O god..

Is it possible to dump the firmware if we remove the MT1319L? (reading the chip on the PC instead of probing it)
Is there another way? Even if I have to kill the drive? I've an spare Lite-On here so I can always exchange the chips.

Have you tried to dump it using the hole on the other side?
