QUOTE(Gallieg444 @ Feb 9 2009, 12:20 AM) *

So i currently have been working on a Hitachi 47d drive. I have run into quite a few snaggs because what i have been trying to do is spoof it as my old MS28 Samsung drive....I have succeeded but only partially....Dun Duhh Daa

Steps i took to do so:

Got into MODEB using slax
REcognized in windows
Took Samsung key injected into Ixtreme1.4 hitachi firmware.
Spoofed the hacked hitachi firmware as my old MS28 Samsung Drive using Firmware Toolbox.
Then flashed using Firmware toolbox's "Direct Drive Flash (GDR Only)-> Flash String Id (Spoof Data)
Then i dumped the firmware on the desktop and turned off the xbox....

When i opened up the firmware which i dumped after the whole flash was done and compare it with the one i had flashed it with they differ, the keys are different.

I believe before i turned the xbox off i had to use the FLash keys option.....?

I have yet to plug the sata cable back into the xbox and run it normally which i think has saved me some grief, although now i have a big problem because the drive is flashed with ixtreme 1.4 and spoofed as a the ms28, and now the Slax Cd hangs when going into modeb and I am unable to get it into modeb, if believe if I were to be able to get it into modeb i could probably just flash the drives key using the "Falsh Keys" tool in firmware toolbox but I am unsure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks for the help thus far and I am sorry, I have been so useless with this damn hitachi47 drive.

Since your hitachi was flashed with iextreme you don't need to use slax to get it into modeb.  All you have to do is eject the dvd dive then unplug the power to the drive. So the drive has no power and the drive is ejected.  plug the power back in and when you turn back on the 360 the drive will be in modeb and you can follow all the steps you did before to get it flashed correctly.

If you need more info just let me know.

I tried this method of getting it into modeb several times, to no avail... I took a look back at the dump i did after the flashing and it shows the firmware as hitachi but doesnt say it is ixtreme1.4, even though i know i flashed it with 1.4 because it says spoofed as ms28...here is a screen:copy on left is what i flashed it with and on the right is the dump after flashing..
(IMG:http://g.imagehost.org/0516/fw.jpg)
the checksums are different because the fw toolbox advised me to go with a master checksum, therefore i did so it made it all 00000 i believe. Also the keys differ because obviously as stated before it never changed the keys as i didnt know i had to use the "Flash Keys" tool ***Gallieg444 sacks himself in the nuts! and says "Should have done that!"

I am currently working on getting an xp disc so i can try getting into mode b using the jungle flasher tool but am unsure as to how long it will take

Looking at the screen shots you provided, your drive is not flashed with ixtreme. there will be no program to put your drive in modeb because it is going to be seen by everything as a m28.  The only way now I can see would be to buy a connectivity kit that can put your drive into modeb or to do the two wire trick.  Do a search on it and you will find the info or you can download textbooks "hacking the 360 for noobs". you can find this, i believe, at 360mods.net

this has certainly turned out to be a nightmare...anywho the two pin trick seems quite easy, ive read up on it, but now i am wondering once it is in modeb will i still be able to flash it using fw toolbox? because won't it still be seen as a ms28 and if so will fw toolbox even let me flash to that type of drive?

Once it is in modeb you will be able to flash in fwtoolbox as you normally would.

Hey guys, just did the two pin trick for modeb Yippy it's in modeb once again!

So i have now restored to original hitachi fw....

and i have flashed the key, using the flash keys command...

the problem i run into is when i go to flash the spoofed firmware i get an error while flashing, "Verify step failed for sector 3e000, Do you want to retry?" I click yes....

After this i dumped the firmware to check and see what it looks like and after i open it up in fw toolbox it looks like this...IPB Image

it looks as though the ixtreme is not going on for some reason...?

Sounds to me like you were just spoofing the drive and not actually adding the hacked firmware....Go to the tools tab then choose smart hack patcher, choosing the file to save the hacked firmware as...then it will ask if you want to open the file choose yes then flash with that file....that will be the hacked file.

Sounds like it may be bricked now.  Looks like you will need to replace the drive.

This is what I had to do in that same situation you're experiencing. Firstly, you have to ensure that you have definitely restored the drive to it's original state (restore command) usual. It's great that you used the 2 wire trick as that's my  preferred method and the simplest. After successfully getting into modeB, I would suggest using Jungle Flasher 1.5.5 while ensuring that you have the correct drivers installed "Via520c", and making sure that you have removed the "viaraid.sys" file while rebooting after the removal of that file. Just keep trying for modeB with the 2 wire trick and perform the above. PM me if need be.
